Before "Murali-gate" there were nothing but straight arm bowlers. I can only think of that poor Aussie bloke who got done in England for chucking. Was it Meckiff? Anyway, umpire called him, he never played again.
Murali, however, gets called for chucking in Australia and his whole team threatens to return home mid-tour! They'd rather call the game into disrepute than accept the verdict. Slow mo analysis of his action confirmed he was indeed chucking the bloody thing! But the consequences that the Sri-Lankans had threatened forced the ICC's hand. Suddenly it's okay to chuck. The huge number of wickets he took over his career seems to confirm there is an advantage to chucking.
How can you defend that? They aggressively pushed for rule changes so Murali could play, of course others would follow once the advantages of chucking became legal.
Piss weak by the ICC. But absolute bullshit from Sri Lanka.

How can you defend it? Well what he has done since that tour to Australia is apparently legal and within the rules. Its the rules/laws that are the issue, not the bowlers themselves. If they have an action that is legal in Test cricket and they are good enough to play, how can they be blamed for continuing to play? Keeping plebs like us happy is not an issue in the scheme. As previously stated........get the over it and move on, woweeeeee

You seem to miss the point that the laws were changed, just so he could play. If that doesn't smell like horse shit to you Donkey, then I guess ignorance is bliss.
Have you not noticed how his trail blazing action has opened the door for (ie, legalized) a whole generation of chuckers? The sheer weight of wickets he took is no justification, just encouragement to those who would mimic him. Johan Botha's team never threatened to go home mid tour so he could continue to play. There was no coercion in awarding a pass mark there.
Think about that.
If you don't want me to comment on it, don't bring it up. Or you could get the over it.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Read my post buddy, I thought I stated pretty clearly that it was the rules/laws that are the issue here  Forget it!

Back something worth discussing......... great knock from Hughes (just got out BTW - 204), but I really hope Head can notch up his ton here. He's been in such great form and certainly deserves to have a FC 100 to his name.

Hughes highest FC score, well done. Will be happy to see him remain in the Redbacks side for the entire summer.

Just overheard a convo between two of the ground staff, one was saying that being the first pitch in the new drop in wicket they had to roll it to within an inch if it's life and didn't take any grass off it so to use his words "the game could last two weeks and the prick still wouldn't break up"

The rest of the pitches won't be like this
