Made me think that some PR people all got together and thought, "well, Davey boy's doing all right now. We need to let everyone know how far our suburban boy has come. That'll be great for Davey, great for the Australian cricket product and we can sell him to a few more companies as a brand ambassador. It's good for everyone! The public gets a boy-next-door hero and we get some more cash!".

Cynical, I know.

You can be cynical about almost everything if you want. I have seen a few of these clips now though, they did one for Warney and boof as well, and I like them, they let a bit of the personality of the cricketers show through a bit.

Unfortunately the best exponent of that will be in the Sky commentary box (David Gower)

The shot is rare these days. Used to love watching Steve Waugh rock back and drive through the covers.

If we pitch the ball up we'll use the bounce more effectively. This will be a good test of the team's maturity. I'm sure Boof will be all over the correct length to bowl at the WACA.

Agreed.

Actually that's why England were so successful in the Ashes series out here in 2010/11. Their fast bowlers didn't get sucked into dropping it in short.

Even though England lost the Perth Test of that series their quicks bowled brilliantly. The batsmen just didn't do their job.
Chris Tremlett (a former FAST bowler) came in for that Test when Stuart Broad went home injured and showed what good length pace bowling could achieve on the Perth pitch. The ball he bowled Phillip Hughes with was a ripsnorter.

According to the English press, England may strengthen their batting by bringing in ex Zimbabwe u/19 star Gary Ballance. Not enough imports in the lineup evidently.

Am I the only one that is worried that England might actually turn the blow torch on Australia in Perth.

Anderson and Broad are still capable of devastating spells and there seems a worrying air of certainty that we will get the job done in Perth.

I hope my fear and paranoia are so sooo wrong but I think this Test will be a lot closer than the first two.

Tend to agree, really worried we are going to bowl way to short and get carried away.

For mine Lyon has to play going to be extremely hot he could be required to bowl some longish spells

It's a fair call. But England's batsmen have not shown during this series that they are going to be able to handle the extra bounce.

Poor bloke, can't strong more than a few tests in a row together.

If it's just a niggle though I can see him playing. Go all out this test and wrap it up.

Anderson not capable of anything in Australia, too slow for Australian conditions and doesnt do enough with the Kookaburra.
