What should Centrals be considering given the imminent loss of Holden as their major sponsor and the associated losses of other minor sponsors?

Holden are ceasing manufacturing in Australia by 2017 not ceasing operations.

They will be importing all vehicles into the country and will keep their extensive dealer and service network.

Why wouldn't they keeping sponsoring Central?

I imagine that the policy of sponsoring Central was decided by management at the Elizabeth plant, and the fact that it was in their area helped them to identify with Central. It's now a question of whether the overseas people see it as worthwhile continuing that sponsorship.
That's all guesswork on my part, I have no idea about the actual sponsorship agreement.

Well except for Geelong who have had Ford for a million years.

Still think it will be the local Australian based executives that would make this decision of sponsorship. Centrals are not the only organisation in this predicament.

Yes, the Gowans boys have their own building and carpentry business...

Hardly a large enough operation to be a major sponsor of the club...

They already help the club out employing current players as apprentices...

Holden will more than likely be with the Dogs in 2014, giving the club more time to start putting a succession plan in place...

Depends on what message Holden are trying to send to consumers and it's dealer network.

If it is a case of "Business As Usual" for the next few years until the 2017 closure then here is a symbolic opportunity to show that.

If they can't wait to get out of here shutting down whatever they can now then the deal with the Bulldogs may be in trouble,

I would suspect most, if not all clubs would have similar percentage of sponsorship tied up with their major one...

Not a sponsor, Major Partner, I think you'll find, I don't think they give us any money. We would get lots from Maughan Theim for the ground sponsorship.

Depends what you mean by lots. But certainly a high % of the Eagles' sponsorship money would come from MT.
