Looks like he will end his career in a farsical series.
Play abandoned on Day 1 because of bad light. The light isnt perfect but still good enough to play IMO.

Kallis brings up his 150th International 50.
Now only 126 runs behind Ponting for number 2 on the all time run scoring list.
Is currently trying to put the Indians to sleep and is 78no off 224 balls.
Kallis and Duminy added 60 runs at a snails pace in just over 30 overs.

Hard to get a result when both teams will be happy with a draw. I could understand Kallis trying to anchor the innings but when Duminy bats like a snail then there is not a huge chance of a result. Devilliers is the best bat in the world, always looking to score and does so with ease. Only chance of a result now is if Steyn goes nuts and runs through the Indian top order, the middle to lower order looks weak. However Smith probably won't even declare....

Kallis tons up in his final test.
Unfortunately for the neutrals he has batted at a snails pace and the Saffers are more interested in him going out with a ton rather than going for a win.
Would of loved them to either declare behind or have a real dip today

Are you not disappointed in both sides attitudes this series?
2 test series and neither side are playing to win. Kallis should be pushing 150 by now and the lead should be approaching 100 atleast.
Saffers would be a real chance if they got 250 infront, that would be a perfect way to send Kallis off

Kallis is an absolute gun, one of the best players ever. However, I am of the belief that is one of the cases when the numbers do lie. What I'm trying to say is who is the better batsman, Kallis or Viv Richards? Stats say Kallis, I would say Richards. Who was the better bowler, Kallis or Akram? Stats might say Kallis but I say Akram.

Kallis was just a freak. A solid player in all facets of the game who as a complete package has probably only been surpassed by Garfield Sobers. But best Crickter ever? I'd say Warne, Ponting, Richards, Tendulkar....but perhaps the stats lie. Kallis was remarkable, but more for the sheer will for the contest, the ability to grind out runs, wickets and catches. He was a cricket machine. I prefer my cricketers to play with a bit more flair. I'd like all of them in my side.

regards,

REB

Very well said REB

Kallis is defiantly in that elite class. I've said before the term 'champion' is thrown around way to easy but Kallis is a champion.

He just gave us one final reminder what an incredibly selfish player he was and one of the main reasons South Africa couldnt take the number 1 mantle from Australia. To have any chance of beating Australia in the last 20 years you have to score at 3-3.5 an over as England have been reminded of this series.
South Africa's approach of getting in a psoition to not lose before attempting to win was typified by Kallis.
Let's not even talk about him in the same breath as Sobers, Akram, Botham and Kahn, they were all match winners
If you want to compare him i think its more appropriate to rate him amongst Tendulkar, Ponting, Dravid and Lara of which imo he comes in 5th
