Haddin plays a full bunger from Borthwick on to his stumps.
Think Clarke has sent the message out, Haddin batting like its a T20

Knew it wouldn't take long.
Wouldn't have mattered what he did, makes 100, everyone says 2nd innings tons mean nothing in a dead rubber test/series.
Its obvious he has been poor, but at least they gave him 10 innings to show something. It hasn't worked out, so he won't go to SOuth Africa and the search for a number 6 will continue. Only thing that may save him will be that no shield cricket is being played currently.
Im happy that we gave him a reasonable chance. We have been winning and he has got stuck into some of the weaker units in this English side.
You probably said the same thing about Rogers aswell.

I, like most people, expected much more from him. Agreed that he should have been given this series to prove himself, but I disagree that a ton wouldn't have been enough, Alas, it would have shown that he had the patience to build an innings in the longer format, and therefore some potential. In Bailey's favour, however, is that there is no other standout middle order batsman knocking down the door.

It is a shame that Shield cricket stops for a long period, as it doesn't give hopefuls a chance of staking their claims until after we've boarded the plane.

Yes, I was skeptical about Rogers when he returned to the side in England, but I soon shut my mouth when he scored his first ton. Two tons and three fifties in this series have proven that the decision to play him was a valid one. Tons are tons, no matter which innings they're scored in. I'm just happy that we've had blokes capable enough to score them in the second dig in order to set a good target.

Bailey averaged 19 in the shield last season and not much more this season, him stinking it up was always going to happen.

Agree but I do like the theory of 'the team should be harder to get into than out off'

Bailey was given a good chance he failed he goes.

At least the next person knows that they will have a chance to prove themselves rather than just one test

I think Boof has really given the guys the confidence in knowing they will be given a decent crack

I simply do not understand the George Bailey commotion today
He made 46 runs , I think that might be his 2nd best score at Test level and gets slammed.
We all know he's prob never going to make it at this level , but why slam him today
114* Bucky Rogers
16 Root hitter
9 Watto
6 Clarke
7 East coast Smith
46 The George
28 Second best Australian batting keeper
4 MJ
1* Rhino

Yeah 2nd top score
Threw his wicket away chasing quick runs for the team , when he could have pushed and prodded towards a higher total [as other more selfish cricketers have done in the past]

Hope he goes to South Africa , makes runs , we win the series , and he gains respect

How about he make some runs in the first innings when it counts not in the second innings when we are 300+ infront and England are bowling their part timers

I agree with you
He's had an ordinary Test career so far, following a very poor SS season 2012-2013
He has made the team because of his good limited overs form
The George is one of the best Limited overs cricketers to play for Australia
He simply has not the style to be a great test batter, he plays to many risky and or risky air shots to make runs at Test level

But as WHUFC and H KING have posted
He has had 5 matches to prove his worth , and all players more or less needed at least 10 + innings to show their worth
He didn't produce but he might of

I will use 2 other examples of giving batters a chance to prove their worth
Robbie Quinney was considered good enough to picked against SA , he failed twice and was never selected again
Chris Rogers was considered good enough to be picked against India , he failed [one innings a very poor LBW decision against him]
Rogers for whatever reasons was axed
After a few years he has come back and look what he has done

I don't disagree Jimbo , the George has not made it at Test level, but his 46 was OK

PS
Shall we eliminate all 2nd innings runs from players stats ?

There are times 2nd innings runs, when the pressure is on, are a measure of great test cricketers as well

People only criticise 2nd innings runs when Shane Watson makes them.

Now to have them 2 down at tea.
