i for one would love to see this kind of thing introduced here...

look at the EPL and listen to their crowds chanting. It sounds amazing when they all start with the same chant. do you reckon they just wing it or have organised 'practice' sessions to nut out new chants?!?

a bit of tall poppy syndrome creeping in here methinks...

Nope, the fact that soccer relies on the crowd to create the atmosphere semonstrates why it is a 2nd rate sport.

It is the action on the field that creates the atmosphere and gets the crowd involved.

Truly cringeworthy.

Just when you thought the 19th man noise-o-meter couldn't be topped....

reinforces why I am an ex- Adelaide FC member
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If something as small as that turns you off being a member then the crows won't miss you

Speaking from my perspective it confirms my decision to turn my back on the club. Started out with salary cap breaches (the CEO should have walked for that one), the reserves issues with the lies and back flips coming out of their offices and finally the marketing department treating the general supporter base like morons with this 19th man concept and the chanting sessions is just the cherry on top

The biggest over site in all of that is that the Chairman and other board members should have walked for the Tippett cheating fiasco but far too easily escaped public criticism.

This chanting stuff adds just another level to the Crows embarrassing the entire state, whether you support them or not.

Interesting to hear on AFL360 the Crows have been talking with the AFL to make Thursday Night Home matches a regular timeslot for their home games.

Could they alienate families anymore!!

Stop being embarrassed cos it really isn't a big deal.

No one died from it, or got cancer. The sun will still come up tomorrow.

Also agree. Haven't read much about it but sounds a bit odd.

Thurs night footy is a great idea. Why not test it. Does it alienate families? From attending maybe a little. But will get potentially get 800k-1mil viewers which exposes the crows to greater audience. Thur night sport seems to work well in US.

I would have thought all SANFL and grassroots supporters would be dead keen for this since it frees up Saturdays to go watch some local footy.

From a spectator point if view I love Thurssay night footy regardless of who plays. If I supported the team playing I'm not sure how I'd feel about it.

Agree and yeah I'm talking from an attendance point of view, would also alienate country and either outer suburb fans who would probably struggle to get home before 11.30-12 with work the next day

But if the crows are happy to have a million viewers watching them in a half empty stadium it's a brilliant idea.

They'll just whack some canvas signage over some seats. I'm sure I've seen this done somewhere before.

Would be interesting to hear Crows members were polled on what their favourite timeslot is.

Apparently Port have requested Saturday arvo or Saturday twilight fixtures as it was the most popular in a poll of members they ran

Yeah it would. As a country member I don't know what I'd vote for. Either a Thurs or Sunday night id say.
If it is Sat or Sat night I'd miss local footy. I'd rather miss a day of work.

This will be met with some average responses but if the SANFL members were polled on the preferred timeslots for AFL footy what would the response be. For most the answer would have to be not on a Saturday. (Actually many would prob answer not at all).
