Talk on the national game

Carlton 2014

Postby Panther Pack » Sat Mar 01, 2014 10:22 am

Like previous years Carlton's main issue is lack of key forwards.

This is why I believe Henderson must play forward all year, can take a grab and kick goals when he has played forward and we need him up forward if we are to do anything this year.

Have been impressed with what I have seen from Watson in the pre season games and I think he can hold down a key back position to allow Henderson to move forward.

Also in recent years I have not been overly impressed with the development of our young players however this year I think we have a few who look the goods and simple must play for us to improve.

So with that said I will have a crack at what I believe is our best side for 2014.

FB: Tuohy Jamieson Simpson
HB: Walker Watson Yarran
C: Thomas McLean Gibbs
R: Warnock Judd Murphy
HF: Everitt Henderson Garlett
FF: Menzel Waite Kruezer

I/C: Buckley Cripps Carazzo Bell

As previously mentioned gotta get time into younger players and I think Buckley, Cripps and Menzel are our best young talent.

Think we have more depth this year which is why I couldn't find any room for Scotland, Robinson, Armfield or Curnow who have been locks previous years but I'm not sure can take us any further.

On the chopping block both Yarran and Kruezer who need to perform now, potential is not enough.

same problem, no method into the forward line, not enough goal kicking options. If we're relying on Waite to be FF, we're going to struggle.

Mid field again this season.

Yep. He shouldn't be. He should be our third tall back or third tall forward, not key to the season's fortunes.

Lost to Bulldogs in practice game today.

We're going nowhere!

Still can't believe we didn't chase a key forward at the end of last season.

That loss will mean zilch/nil/zero if you beat my side in round 1.

Practice games mean nothing, they are basically a glorified training session.

Carlton do not have the money to pay him out. Would need close to $3m which would break them for years
