Sad to see Smith go, has been my favourite non Aussie player since he tore the Poms a new one in 2003. In full flight there aren't many classier players. Was a strange call when he was made captain, as he was dropped from the Test team just prior to the World Cup, then made captain just after it. A big hole to fill in the South African line up

he has certainly had a great career

**** off I hope he gets out for **** all. Adios.

Started as an ugly-mug cricketer.
Finished as an ugly-mug cricketer with an outrageously hot wife (like all Saffers seem to).

Could end up playing for Ireland yet
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

He will be 35 by the time he qualifies for them according to ICC rules.

Unless the Guinness drinkers can convince them differently.

Far better chance to add profile to their First Class competition or even coach the national team.

Correct & he is captaining Surrey or Susex for the next 2-3 years anyway so he will be playing. Would be great for Irish Cricket also.

Can the poms claim him as an Irishmen like they did with Morgan & Rankin??

Is the rule 2 years out to play for the minor national teams but 4 years for the major teams??

Mark Waugh.

The South Africans are exceptional, though.
