No he wasn't. He could have fought it if he wanted. Sure it probably would have been a risk financially with the cost involved, but he still had a choice.

No he couldnt, its been mentioned several times that the AFL did not want a long drawn out court battle and the club was told on no uncertain terms what would happen if Hird took it further. I believe their was even a dummy draw done up for a 17 team comp this year. Thats why id rather him step down or be sacked where he is then free to fight the AFL in court for however long it takes.
I dont think he will coach again anyway

Chappy wasnt let go because he can't play, he was let go because he's injury prone

Hardly injury prone, one year of a bad hamstring that's all.

The amount of games he had played in each season before that shows his consistency to play footy

At his age last year would be a better eg of his body status as opposed to 10 years ago and Geelong would have known the exact odds of getting a full season out of him. Essendon are probably more desperate so were prepared to play with those odds and fair enough. Chappys been one of my most loved players for a long time and will continue to be, still love watching him on the park.
Essendon might have better/different drugs to preevent/fix injuries too! ;)

What that says is that he didn't have a great choice of options so he played it safe (as I think most would in that position), however he still had the choice of standing his ground and going through the courts, so my point remains.

I don't care what threats were made (IMHO) there's not a chance in hell the AFL would remove a club as big as Essendon for the widespread damage to the game and it's revenue, that such a move would cause.

Well lets hope his hammies can hold up and we can have him play like he did against the roos all year. That would annoy Geelong ;)

So shut up and accept your 'punishment' then. Tough punishment  .

I want to get a position whereby I can completely **** the lives up of the people i work with, and get a years holiday, paid, at about a million bucks.

Seriously the guy's been kissed on the knob. Shut up and move on, god knows most of us want to.

No. No they can't.

They lost to an undermanned Hawthorn last week. Beating us is like beating up on Melbourne.

Dont think we can win it but that loss to the Hawks doesnt look so bad now the same undermanned side destroyed most peoples flag favourite on Friday night.
The game against Freo this week in Perth should give us a better indication of where we are it

Yep hope you belt everyone until 3/4 the way through the season before ASADA give 8 or 10 blokes a tap on the shoulder

You might win that too. As you did last year. Essendon are perennial fast starters to the season, Freo a lot slower IMO. They tend to warm into the season, to be cherry ripe for finals. No excuses, they were shocking last Friday.

Chappy, Chappy Chappy Chappy. What a absolute gun. Geelong will be kicking themselves I reckon. On another note, has anyone watched Bomber Thompson's press conferences and also his interviews after the games? Is he nervous in front of the camera or is that the way he always is?
