has that north melbourne key defender played for the bombers yet?

Nathan Grima I'm presuming?
Not AFL yet, has played a couple of VFL games but due to no pre season was coming from a long way back. Think he is close to a call up, was solid on the weekend mind you he only played on Cloke[emoji1]

Was a AA in 2014 and would be one of the top KPD's in the comp.
obviously 4 other clubs thought so aswell as he actually took less to stay with us. Melbourne and Freo offered him 6 years at around the $750-800k mark, North and the Hawks were 5 years but similar money.
Was a pretty crucial signature for us as I always thought he was the least likely to stay

I would say anyone willing to stay will be rewarded for doing so and any stability this club can put into it's playing group they will have to take. Players will be reluctant to go there and many will be wanting to leave now or, if joining post AOD they'll be considering moving to avoid the smack downs they'll take for a year or three. This whole ordeal will carry on for a long, long time for this club.

Footballers who took a year off and returned successfully? Be a very, very short list.

I don't share your thoughts there Boon. Yes we are in position to challenge for a flag in the foreseeable future and even top 4 is a mile away but if things click in the next couple of years finals are a possibility. To the best of my knowledge no one is leaving and everyone we have drafted in since those days love the club and are looking to pen new deals. The players rave about Worsfold and the facilities at the club are second to none and getting more $ spent on upgrades this year again. They get to play infront of good crowds and the blockbuster games are big selling points.
The club has a couple of irons on the fire in regards to recruiting and we desperately need a key forward or two to be competitive.
Hopefully Dodoro can pick a few gems out of this years draft aswell as the top 2 pick we will get

You guys are heavily into JOM, a lot will depend on how he comes back as some experts think his body is shot and he will never return to what he was. If he gets a good outcome the Melbourne clubs will be beating down his door

the phil carmen story on marngrook footy show last night was interesting

as a teenager he was zone to collingwood from a country town on the SA border, but phil wanted to play for norwood only, the australian football council forced phil to take 2 years off footy as a result in his early years

I've never been a fan of Hirdy but has he been hung out to dry somewhat by the club?
