The year off certainly impacted differently on some. Ryder and Hibberd have come back in ripping form ( might have a bit to do with the change of environment too ) while Stanton and Heppell, again, for differing reasons, appear to be two who have struggled since returning.

31 yo with a year out of the game, was never going to return to his best. Not a great career but a solid enough career and a very likeable bloke. Didn't quite get the best out of himself and I wonder if his lifestyle had a bit to do with it

He is a real knock around bloke and has always enjoyed a few beers and ciggies. It's well known that he was a pack a day smoker for most of his career yet his endurance and GPS numbers were always solid. Still enjoys a beer after the game and often pops out for a dart after the game

pack a day as an AFL midfielder...crazy
makes me wonder what % of players are regular smokers. Jesse Hogan likes a dart too doesn't he?

I thought he was about 30 years old but upon checking he's only 27.
4 years is a big contract at 27 but probably worth the risk.

I thought 3 would of been about right but he was due to become a UFA this year and had several offers from other clubs so we were pretty much in a no win situation. The length of the contract had been the sticking point
