As if the comp wasn't compromised enough, we now have players playing for different clubs in the same comp from week to week! FFS

Which now makes him unavailable for Adelaide for the remainder of the year, I believe.

No, just cant play against the Bays, so he could yo-yo between the 2 all year, where does he play in finals*???

I'm certain someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought once you played league footy for your home club you were no longer eligible for the crows. Or was this just one of the many promises thrown out there but never put in writing?

Edit: Now I see a couple pages ago Booney beat me to this. For some reason I haven't felt like reading every single post in all of these threads. Sam De Leonardis from North would be another that would now be ineligible, but given his injury it's moot for 2-3 months.

regarding top up players for Adelaide below is taken from the crows agreement.

- SANFL Clubs can opt in / out of providing top up players to the AFC.
- SANFL Clubs must make the decision on in /out by November 1st.
- Should SANFL Clubs chose to opt in, they agree to always have a minimum of 2 players available for selection for the AFC.
- These players will be:
o 18 – 22 years old, on an SANFL Club list
o Selected at start of pre-season in conjunction with SANFL Clubs
o AFC and SANFL Clubs to review at conclusion of Rd 6 and Rd 12
o Cannot play against the player’s home SANFL Club
o Receive a match payment of $100
We're on this journey together, One Heart, One Club and they will Never Ever Tear Us Apart.

I liked it better when the Bays lost in front of 2800 people.

I'd rather 6,000 go to the Bay to watch a competition with an even playing field and integrity. Crowd numbers aren't the "be all". If this was the sole measuring stick, a lot of competitions wouldn't exist.

I read this article about the AFL-WAFL a few weeks ago and forgot about it. Be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year.

Strange that here in SA the AFL clubs are promoting increased sponsorship yet in WA it is decreasing.

Some pretty experienced, knowledgeable football pedigree reflecting what most of us have posted on about 50 pages on this forum, prior and post the induction of the reserves .

Could be the structure the WAFL have gone with. Instead of new teams the AFL have aligned with existing teams. Most long term sponsors of clubs in the SANFL and WAFL are also most likely long term supporters. I can't see too many supporters being happy if their team was taken over by an AFL club.

The WAFL are also a season ahead of the SANFL with all new players drafted going to the aligned clubs last year I believe. All other players moved this season.

It will be interesting to see the interest in the SANFL next season or even later this season. I don't think we can take too much from the crowd figures or sponsorships yet.

At least the SANFL clubs have not been taken over. The games between SANFL clubs only are much better than previously with the AFL having no influence at all on selection/quality of players available. I.e. The Eagles win over Norwood last year was hard to measure given b.o.g. was Vince and Brodie Smith not far behind.

Just need to do everything possible to keep the 8 SANFL clubs strong and understand that the SANFL serves multiple purposes and that the right balance needs to be struck.

Interesting to note...

at the South Adelaide v Crows game in late May, the SAFC Chairmans Lunch will feature guest speaker....Steven Trigg.

could well be an interesting function, particularly if he takes questions..... 8)

No chance of it happening but even if it did it'd mean a whole lot less than last year's.

Just my opinion of course but if the custodians of the comp don't take the comp seriously why should I?

Ugh not hard to measure at all, were you at the game? He did stuff all, just dropped back the backlines to cherry pick a couple of mark and kicks for the dream team points. Eagles flogged them at their home ground because it was one of their best performances of the year, and probably one of Norwood's worst. No way in hell he made a difference.

This is where people should make a statement and not go. If he rocks up to an 'empty' room that would speak volumes. It's only one event but it would speak volumes. Yes get behind your club but don't let them cash in on controversy. Most people have principles.

Except you'd only be hurting your own club for not turning up to their function where they get all the profits ... #-o

So you should pack the place out, eat and drink heaps but give him lots of shit.
