Not to mention that some of these kids are then playing against the clubs they were drafted from in the first place which increases the disadvantage again.

Just a quick note to the contrary - callinan, battersby, Lyons, porplyzia and Riley knight is a pretty average midfield by SANFL standards.

Yes the youngsters have talent but in the old system they would still be on the flanks as the hardened sanfl bodies were in the guts. Because of the topup players they also have way less rotations as those guys can't play midfield.

Not crying poor or whatever just making the observation as to why the crows are struggling.

Can't comment too much on port as I don't know much about them but obviously it's working better from their point of view

Just download and repeatedly read the first five pages then. Same enjoyment for a fraction of the effort. :D

Callinan was a gun midfielder for us. I thought Lyons form was meant to be good (though I don't watch them) and add in grigg it looks pretty healthy.

Callinan and Lyons are top tier players in the SANFL, so is Porplyzia when fit.

You do realize that once they CHOOSE to nominate for the draft and CHOOSE to leave their SANFL clubs, they are no longer your players... so that means that the argument of them playing against their own club null and void....

Advertiser hightlights it today with both port and south 5 and 1 , top of the table clash, yet two advertiser tipsters pick port 49-60
Sad when there is that much disparity between the top two teams.
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

That is correct. But if they are drafted by an SA team they were normally still with there SANFL team.

But anyway it is what is now so its void.

It would be nice if their original clubs could receive better compensation at least for all the time and effort they put into developing them.

Does anyone know how the VFL is set up. Would there be 3 different sets of rules there as well. 1 for the stand alone VFL clubs, 1 for the AFL/VFL alliances & 1 for the AFL stand alone reserves.

they already receive plenty. Junior clubs are the ones that deserve a bigger cut.
