Champagne breakfast, I think.

There is a champagne breakfast in place of the usual President's lunch. It is $50 a head and includes the player Calcutta.

The bistro however will not be serving breakfast.

Any chance of egg and bacon rolls at the kiosks then? A good brekkie item :D

Best steak sangers in the comp Vert, and an ideal way to start the day!!

I was never convinced about two things for this season. The first being the entry of the two AFL reserves teams (with the spin in that it will be good for the local clubs) and the second being the even more outrageous spin that channel 7's telecast will improve the profile of the SANFL.

Well this week's scheduling of the the Central District vs Norwood game is a disgrace. Channel 7 needs to honour its big bucks commitment to AFL telecast on Saturday afternoon so its the SANFL schedule, clubs and supporters that suffer. I have watched the reserves then league games for all 20 rounds every year for the last 15 years. Now because of a corporate decision, if I wish to continue to support my club I have to arrange my day for a 9 am and 12 noon start. This is how the new television regime values the local football? That is, if Central District was to use this game to at last break even then beginning the league game just after noon when supporters are busy with junior sport or other commitments is a recipe to ensure this will not happen. Basically, it's stuff the long term local supporters and their clubs just so the corporate TV network can maximise their corporate bucks.

This is a very bad joke Mr Olsen and Mr Whicker, not that you give a rat's. I wonder if there was any fine print to the agreement to televise one SANFL game per week or simply that channel 7 televised one game a week. This is another example of Corporations moving in to monopolise a market and when they do they basically reorganise everything to suit their self serving needs. So the score is corporate TV 1, community football supporters 0. I suspect the margin with this score line will only increase as the season progresses.

Welcome to SAFooty, great first post

Yep there is no way anyone can convince me having the game on TV at the expense of the gate and clubrooms/ground facility takings is beneficial for the actual SANFL club.

As I have posted before just between me and my 3 mates the club has lost a minimum of $200 over its bar.

Throw in the fact last year Centrals played port at Elizabeth at the exact same time the Power were playing (iirc at west lakes as well) no wonder Centrals attendances are down and the club is struggling to make a profit.

Other clubs have also had been on the end of ridiculous scheduling.

Oh wait a sec lucky we get the crows the week after when their 4k fans will show up on the Easter weekend and while there sides are 0-6

Expecting us to win comfortably, probably 7-8 goals. Reckon our intensity and pressure will be too good for them

or go see the last quarter of the Under 18's at The Parade, as a few of us will be doing.
As for the League game, would tip Norwood by eight goals but with their style of game, will only tip them by four. Expecting a score somewhere around 9 goals to 5 for the match.

Cheers

Norwood are now 13 matches on the trot without letting their opponents score 10 goals. That's the longest such run in the SANFL for over 90 years (thanks to the amazing spelly for the stat).

There was a lot to like about the Dogs first up performance against the Eagles. Think this might be a lot closer then some might think. Symes won't play and I think there might have another significant out through injury. I hear that Wagner is unavailable due to his AFL reality show commitments but there area couple of very good young players in the reserves who can step up. On the big expanses of Elizabeth Oval, playing a team that is a lot quicker than the past couple of years, I'm wondering if Norwood's zones will work as well this game as they have in previous years. Think I'll take the Dogs at home by a couple of goals. I think the Legs might suffer a let down from the their great game against Port last week.

Until Bassett arrived, this was a plague upon the club. Too often get up for the Port games then get rolled the week after.

Our boys have generally become fairly consistent, and have viewed the Dogs as an arch rival, so hopefully they will be up and can bring the required intensity.

Central IIRC were one of the best performed teams in the wet last year and will be keen to rebound, so I'm expecting this to be a lot closer than most people think.

As another poster mentioned, we very rarely get 10 goals scored against us, im quite confident we can kick 10-12 at a minimum and I just cant see where the Dogs goals will come from. Think we will be ok in the wet, suits our midfield quite nicely, would expect Evans to rack up a ton of possies in these conditions

Bet Norwood had 10 goals kicked against them more last year than when they kicked 20 goals themselves though.
Smart game plan the way % is worked out though.

Man, that stat is simply confusing.

For those in any doubt as to whether defence wins premierships: did the team that kicked the all-time SANFL high score (a lazy 49 goals), win the flag the year they registered that score? As a further kick in the guts, they kicked a big 7 goals in the losing GF.

Not a Glenelg-specific disease either: Norwood's highest-ever score was registered in a year (1977) when they finished 5th. In fact, Norwood didn't even make the GF in 9 of the years that they registered their 10 highest-ever scores. You won't find a single Norwood score from 2012 or 2013 anywhere in their top 100 highest-ever scores. And I don't think any Norwood fans are going to be crying too many tears over that fact. It's not like the team doesn't score goals—2nd best attack in the league in 2012, 3rd best in 2013—it just doesn't aim to kick cricket scores, if that doesn't help win flags.

If the weather is crap, Norwood by 60.
