Well, look at their recent "recruiting" from other clubs :

Ricky Petterd, Bacher Houli, Chris Knights, Shaun Hampson,Shaun Grigg, Matt Thomas, Ivan Maric, Aaron Edwards, Matt Thomas, Orren Stephenson. Would any of their previous clubs want any of those players back in a hurry?

Hardly an inspirational list of "upgrade" players when you consider Hawthorns gains of Lake, Hale, Burgoyne, Gibson, Gunston etc.

Vickery and Rewioldt offer a fairly potent key forward combination but as noted above Jack looks like a full forward and full forward only with a well documented questionable attitude while Vickery is taking time, as big blokes do and may well develop into the player many think he will be.

Deledio, Martin, Cotchin are the nucleus of a solid midfield.....but Conca hasn't lived up to being pick 6, Foley is in and out of games.

King is, well King and besides Rance the only key backman they have is the very trade worthy Troy Chaplin.

That's why.

Desperately!

Fell in against Carlton in round 2 and were headed in the third qtr before kicking away late at the Gabba v the lions.
Could easily be 1-7 or 0-8.

Chaplin.........**** the power loom like bloody geniuses for letting him go now.

I reckon they will improve with the return of Maric but when Delideo is not in the side and firing as well it leaves a fair hole. The hard tag goes to Cotchin who works hards but is overwhelmed with continiously carrying the side.

Re-signed Shane Edwards for another two years I see, our list management is terrible. He has had one good year in 7 move him on.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I must have missed that one good year (I have posted previously my thoughts on this player numerous times).
Truly a staggering re-signing.

Been having a quick look through our list & these are the players I have come up with at a minimum we need to move on at the end of the year
Gone
- Newman retired
- M Thomas spud
- A Edwards Spud
- J King
- B Helbig 3 years on list shown nothing
- K McIntosh who???
- O Stephenson retired spud
- T Elton who??
- B O'Hanlon who??

Potential Trade Bait
- Foley probably too old for anyone to want him
- Vickery some clubs may see some potential in him, probably needs a sea change
- Conca one of our potential better players but may be able to entice someone like a Gaff to come back to Vic & see a straight swap.

Others
Hampson, Lloyed & Gordon were all drafted last year so would have another year left on their contracts but will go as soon as their up.
Batchelor, Petterard, Dea, Griffiths & Arnot probably keep their spots as they are slighlty better than other mentioned above & we cant delist 15 players or can we.....

Interested to see what others think.

Interesting that you have Matt Thomas on that list, I thought he had been pretty good for the Tigers this season - averaging just under 23 disposals and 7 tackles a game.

He is just too slow, better of getting games into young Miles who plays a simillar role. Port got rid of him for a reason

Fair assessment DB .. The list that needs to be shown the door I agree with, although I think 2 off-seasons is more realistic.

I love Matty Thomas, strong at the clearance and tackling and finds plenty of the ball and is far from your worst player. Problem is that if you want to try and build a list good enough to challenge for a flag I don't see him as being good enough to appear on it. The trade bait you have listed won't net you much and there's no point trading like for like - Worth seeing if Jack Riewoldt might be interested in a move to GWS in a deal for Jeremy Cameron?
MArtin's the one you would like to trade, but again I don't think there's been much interest in him so you're probably better off keeping him unless you can find something in return that you think improves your team. Cotchin is a star as is Deledio, but you don't have anywhere near enough quality outside of them. Vlaustin will be a beauty and Ellis should be - He could be the one that could add value to a trade to bring in a quality player for the Tiges?
