It will be a very good idea to arrive early...as last year there were still plenty of people lined up outside the ground at the first bounce.
There is a Liquor license commencing at 12.00noon at various spots around the ground -. although "Jimmy Deanes" will be closed.
Barbecues etc will be open and there will also be Fish and Chips available for those of that persuasion.
Reserves commence at 12.25, League at 3.10 pm.

seems like the sort of game that south should win handsomely, but not sort of game that they actually do win, going by recent history. would love to have south push for a finals berth

Big Phil wrote:For me, this will be more about how South Adelaide play than whether or not the Bays respond from their poor showing last week and take advantage of their recent good record at Noarlunga...

It's early days, I know, but I sense there is something different in the air this year with this South group and they could be in for a good year. The test will be this week, although as Scott pointed out elsewhere, they did start a year 3-0 a few back and ended up winning only another 2 games for the rest of the year...

Either South will win by plenty or thier will be a Tigers resurrection and an upset win on the cards. I look forward to seeing what happens this Friday...

South have comprehensively beaten the 2 sides that finished 2nd and 3rd in 2012 and 2013, but a game at home against the reigning wooden spooner who have copped 2 floggings is the test?

With all due respect to them, it is South Adelaide...

As mentioned in my previous post, there seems to be something different about the Panthers of 2014, but...

Ask any South supporter and I bet you they say it is. Put aside the Bays form from yesterday, for a second, and South haven't been playing well at home (excluding Round 1) in recent times, even more so against the Tigers...

I'm sure South will come out and win comfortably but I wouldn't at all be suprised if the Bays put on a really good showing and even get up.

HUGE BLOCKBUSTER crowd could be massive!!!!!!!

Massive game South going for 3 wins on the trott to open their season.

The Bays well can they respond after a huge 150 point flogging, people have been suggesting the Bays are imploding!!!!!

Just keeping a lid on things at Noarlunga at the mo.

However posters are correct South should win this game but traditionally have dropped these type of games.

Is this a new South Adelaide by 6pm Friday we shall know..............................

I mean honestly those posts belong in the best jokes thread

south are up and about, playing a reasonable brand of footy. they will be up against a rabble.

south will be $1.20 and I suggest to anyone if you can get better then 20% return $$$ on good Friday, please show me the way!

nobody is suggesting south wont be huge favourites, just that these are the sorts of games that they have slipped up in in the past, and why they havent been higher than mid table in god knows how long. would love to see them smash the bays and make finals. and then lose to the dogs :D

Yes South should be favourites for this game, no question.
However as most Southies would know these are the games we generally lose, mainly because we havent been able to handle the expectation. Yes South have improved, but I can assure you at the moment the lid is still on the bottle.
Its hard for a club so bereft of success to keep the excitement of consecutive comfortable wins over two of last years finalists in check, but it is. I personally wont get too excited until after rd 4- we have this week against the McCoys from down the hill, followed by a trip to Elizabeth a place where we havent won since Adam was a boy.Win those two for a 4-0 start, and yes I think the band wagon will be in full swing, not until then though.

Glenelg /South matches rarely go to script- I seem to recall beating the tiges a few times late in the minor round when they were still playing for a finals berth and beating them when our season was finished months previous. Glenelg in recent times I feel have had the wood on us at Hickinbotham whilst wehave taken the honours at the Bay.
I expect Glenelg to react to yesterdays debacle, and react strongly, so i think the game will be much more of a contest than many beleive.
For those who havent seen South play yet this year, be prepared for a shock. The game plan is vastly different for a start,... there are a few new players,- no big names , but contributors all of them. All the players are united, there are no passengers or nuffnuffs. All are far fitter than before..and their intensity and attack on the footy is frenetic.

Go Panthers!

Would feel more confident if it was played at the Bay and not televised.

Unfortunately we have a history of letting ourselves down when we are on the "big" stage or over confident.

Definitely a better "vibe" at Panther land this year then any years I have seen previously.

I shall wait till after round 4 to see where we really are at......

South by 3 to 4 goals........I think the pretty boys down the hill will be fired up!! ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

I'm quite a decisive person but now I am not so sure.

Let me decode for you :

South are historically crap , so suspect them to lose. Crap at home .

Could win but Glenelg seem crap too so maybe they'll win. But if South don't win I reckon Glenelg will. :D :D :D
