Rnd 4 - Central v South @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat 26/4)

Postby Big Phil » Tue Apr 22, 2014 12:21 pm

The Dogs are coming off a very poor performance against the Adelaide Crows Reserves team and will be keen to atone for that showing whilst hoping for a couple of players to return from injury.

The Panthers are flying and sitting atop of the table by 0.05% over the Double Blues. South do have a couple of injury concerns now so their depth will be tested.

Playford Alive Oval, Elizabeth

South will be favourites and should win at Elizabeth to finally break the drought which I think might be the longest current losing sequence at the ground.

Yeah, based on form at present, the Panthers will absolutely be the favourites, even despite losing a couple of players to ling term injuries...

Central have actually won last 18 clashes between these two sides overall...

And yes, you are right, Bounce of the ball, this is currently the longest losing streak in the SANFL history...

South Adelaide's last win against the Dogs was back in Round 8 (May 20th) of the 2006 sesason, down at Noarlunga...

Amazingly, the last time the Panthers sung their song out at The Ponderosa was way back on April 3rd of the 1999 season, in Round 2...

More will come of that tonight, I would suspect, with Brad Crabb in particular...

Too many injuries for South to win this this one, not only poor Tarak Redigolo and Lachie Boyd, but Daniel Bass and Mcleod in doubt and with our reserves yet to win a game our depth may not be good enough to put an end to the hoodoo, sadly. Of course i could be wrong ;) .

2008 under Cahill we went 3-0, then it turned to sh#t real quick. Reckon the combined margin in those three wins was probably only 20 points.

Yeah, snuck home in all 3 games, including a rare win at Alberton. Port had shot after siren to win it. The win against the Bloods in R3 was one of the worst games of footy I've witnessed. Our 2008 squad was very ordinary, so the fall away came as no surprise.

The last time South won 4 on the trot...2005 under Pyman.

My guess will be Ah Chee for Tarak Redigolo, Durdin for Crabb and John McDonald if any midfielder can not make it. Replacing Bass would have to be either two metre Peter or Alex Cailoto.

Big test but not ruling us out. South by a goal.

It's difficult... but easier as the year progresses - particularly as they are winning

My 1st game will be next week v WWT - mainly so my boy can go see The Eagles & also to catch up with my friends.
Not sure how I'm going to deal with this whole thing to be honest.

The other 2 games will be v Cows - that will be very easy to 'barrack' no doubt ;)

Despite what has been stated on the Recovery Session, South could not have been 3-0 in 1991 because they definitely lost the first game of the year to eventual premier, North, at Prospect.

Spot on. South was 1-3 after four rounds in 1991.

It was 1992 we were 3-0, then only won eight of the past 19 games to scrape into fifth by less than a kick.

We're going for five straight this week which we haven't done since the seven straight between Round's 5 and 12, 1991.

Round 2, 1999 - our last win at Elizabeth. Round 25, 1991 - our second last win at Elizabeth.

Almost quarter of a century and only one win out there. Holy batcrap.
