its a pretty decent team, and there are always going to be players miss out that you think should be in there.

i.e for coventry, who do you replace him with? on the bench with jezza going out, but there plenty of others who could take a bench spot too.

lets face it, they have got it more right than some of the ridiculous all australian teams of recent years, where they just try and pack every midfielder possible into it

And in a way, the team of the century has this flavour also. Hayden Bunton and Dick Reynolds were both triple brownlow medallists, but also midfielders named on a HFF and FP.

We have Coventry and Dunstall both 1200+ goalkickers, which lets be honest, a feat that is unlikely to ever be accomplished again, wouldnt these 2 names be better rewarded as outstanding achievers rather than 2 triple brownlow medallists- of which we could very well see another one of those this season?

This is in no way disrespectful to Bunton and Reynolds as they are both legends of the game, I would just like to see the best midfielders, the best defenders and the best forwards get rewarded.

As far as forwards are concerned, I dont think many people would ever argue with:

Matthews, Carey, Coleman (played FF in his day but had the athleticism of the modern day HF)
Coventry, Lockett, Dunstall.

Certainly a good player PG- however Carey has CHF wrapped up, purely on the basis of his ability to win games off his own boot. Coleman was a freak and Matthews is the best player to play the game in many eyes. Coventry, Lockett and Dunstall get the last 3 spots on sheer weight of numbers alone.

Remove Royce Hart or Jezza from the bench? Actually surprised Dunstall isn't in that side either.

Maybe i'm just being bias because I dont know the really old guys

In my opinion, Hart and Jezza, knowing what we know now with Lockett, Ablett snr, Dunstall and Carey (all still playing when this side was named) wouldnt get a gig if it was named today.

How you can have 3 blokes who have all kicked over 1200 goals not in the side staggers me.

Which century are we talking about...the 20th or 21st?

It should be called simply the best team ever.

Yeah, maybe get west end on board and put up some horribly lame and embarrassing billboards trying to claim land back or drawing a line in the sand.
