Best and Worst Grounds you have watched footy at

Adelaide Oval and Adelaide's revamped sporting precinct has been well documented of late, so much so that many media personalities are labelling it the best stadium in australia.

Having visited both Adelaide oval and the MCG (Still what I consider to be the best stadium in Australia)- among some of our current and past venues (Etihad, AAMI, Skilled Stadium, GABBA, SCG, Optus Oval)- it got me thinking....What is the best and worst stadium you have been to and why?

For me:

Best: The MCG- the mecca of Australian Sport, a beautiful venue to watch the game, love the facilities, the view regardless of where you are seated- not to mention its accessibility. The ground symolises so much Australian sporting history, that it is too hard to pass for #1.

Worst: AAMI- I have had a lot of great memories at AAMI, which makes it hard for me to write this, but alot of nights in the pouring rain on aluminium seats watching a game was pretty average looking back on it. The location was horrible, meaning public transport wasnt an option, and many times you entrusted the local housing trust residents or westfield shopping centre with your car, hoping it wouldnt be gone or stripped upon return!. Thank god for Adelaide Oval!!

With the crowd figures of some Vic sides have gotten over the last few years, you could probably easily return to suburban ground footy.

Is it really the worst idea? Be a pleasant change from the same Etihad and MCG viewing, clubs could actually build a fortress and a ground they can call their own, and might encourage people to go to more games since they are at different grounds than they would normally go to

Still nothing like 90k at the MCG. Saw the collingwood hawthorn final a couple of years ago and it was awesome.

Loved etihad too, but I reckon Adelaide oval is at least as good as etihad for viewing, not taking I to account the roof obv

Loved the atmosphere at the 2010 Anzac Day match in the MCG.

Also went to Victoria Park, that place would have been a genuine hell hole in its heyday

MCG the best by a mile, the atmosphere at the ANZAC day games especially are amazing, have been to all of them apart from the last two.
Etihad is great when its full and the noise is amazing but is a pretty sterile place when the crowd is small.
Worst, VFL park was a disgrace, windy and cold out in the middle of a paddock with no transport. Princes Park, Vic Park and Moorabbin were shockers in their day. Windy Hill seemed good in that era but looking back you realise how bad it was

Never went to Waverly/VFL park, but looking at footage of games, it looked windy, cold and your right in the middle of nowhere

In my opinion;

BEST: MCG, because it really is a wonderful stadium with top notch facilities and easily accessible transport. The latter point is the only thing the new Adelaide Oval lacks.

WORST: Footy Park. Very minimal and very cramped public transport that takes way too long to get you to your destination. That probably says more about Adelaide's public transport system, than it does about the stadium. The stadium itself was an uninspired, cold, lifeless, limp, white elephant with no real redeeming qualities.

I for one would have loved to seen more of the suburban grounds, and in an ideal world, would love to see them all return. I only went to Optus Oval once as a kid, and I loved the feel of the place.

Was alot closer than AAMI is to the City but had no public transport, had to catch a train but the last station was a a few km's away so you could either walk the remaining distance or get a cab. Never ever went there when it wasnt blowing a gale and the winds came straight off the ocean and usually rain accompanied the wind. Terrible venue

BEST: MCG

WORST: VFL Park ... miles away, shithole, windy, wet, and the black (brown) and white (yellow) electronic scoreboard probably totally made from valves.

It was heaps further away from the city than AAMI, at least 10km further, and it was too far to walk from glen waverley train station.
