have to admit it was unnecessary for him to do so.

Perhaps similar to Fyfe incident, but another ballpark to Douglas' snipe. Will probably get a game or two, which is ridiculous but so was the Fyfe suspension. Reckon the bloke tackling Lynch is more responsible for the head contact, unwittingly, and I hope Melbourne fight it and win.

Yep Melbourne have to fight this and IMO if he gets games all players may as well gridiron style helmets. They are clearly the next logical steps for players to avoid suspensions and head injuries. Is that what the AFL wants?
Viney was only protecting himself, had he chose to tackle instead of bump he would've opened himself up and been split down the middle much like Dangerfield was by Gia.

Finally found some vision of the alleged incident.

What a load of crap all those reports are. What is this game coming too!!!!!!!!

What was Viney supposed to do. Open him self up to get collected, pull out of the contest. If he tried to tackle him the incident would still have happened. IT'S A CONTACT SPORT FOR F*CK SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!

We are taught as youngsters not to pull out of a contest. He didn't hit Lynch in the head. Lynch's head hit the his immediate opponents head

Toughen up you pack of Princess's on the MRP

And the other reports what a waste of time. A Free kick in most move on.

Nothing in those reports.

Delidio - Free kick at best play on
Stokes - Free kick at best play on
Mundy - Free kick at best play on
McGuane - Nothing in that. The MRP stretching at that one.

THE MRP JUSTIFYING THEIR EXISTENCE AT BEST

Not looking good for young Jack, Tribunal have put forward its negligent and brought out the crows medical report. Lynch will miss 6 games.

Viney has pleaded not guilty and the tribunal will not allow melb witnesses. I believed they wanted Roos to speak.

He could get a couple here.

The Game is slowly turning to shit.

I watched the 1989 grand final the other day and what a game that was. Yet if it was played today there would be 2,396 games suspension 2 would probably get life!

AFL legal counsel Jeff Gleeson proposed Viney could have "spun out" of the impending collision, rather than bracing for contact.

"Spun out"!?

I thought it is (was?) a contact sport. Who the hell is Jeff Glesson anyway? A lawyer...

Watching the replay of it, the bulk of the damage to Lynch appeared to occur as his head bounced back into Georgiou. I guess Viney was supposed to foresee this happening..

Viney gets two games yet Glass jumps into Wingard and no case to answer

Viney braced for impact to protect himself
Glass chose to leave the ground

The game is rooted

I think the penalty for rough conduct is the part of the game that is stuffed up the most.

I doubt anyone would have cared if he got 1 week reduced to a reprimand with an early plea for instance, but to get 2 here (and fyfe and douglas included) is just ridiculous.

Football has changed too much for many of us, but this one is the final straw to confirm the change in the fabric of the game.

Vineys only real choices were to brace for impact as he did or step out of the way and avoid the contest all together.

The latter is what the powers that be are telling the competition they want to see, players avoid contests. Contesting the ball was the first and most basic act in the game that we've all been taught since we were nippers. AFL should never be referred to as "Australian Rules Football" again.

This is a different sport to that.
