Used to like it but don't care if I never heard it again

Yes, music now has its very own forum!

Used to like it but don't care if I never heard it again

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Jun 03, 2014 1:24 pm

Here I am at work and for about nine billionth time they or someone else is playing Bon Jovi Living on a Prayer. Now when I was a long haired 21 year old Rager I didn't mind that song, even had the 45 at one stage (showing my age there) but I honestly couldn't GAF if I ever heard that song again. What's your nomination for the 'give it a rest award'.

I'm almost at that point with anything by The Beatles.
Given we're coming up to another anniversary of their visit to Adelaide and we'll hear lots more about the size of the population went out to see them, I'm pretty certain I'll have reached that point by the end of next week.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Cold Chisel's Khe Sanh. Surely one of the most overrated songs ever. It was great the first time you heard it in a country pub, but it started to shit me soon after that.

Blur's Song 2. As a 14 year old boy, I was really getting into them. I then discovered Blur's back catalogue and this song wouldn't be in the top 50.

Oasis' Wonderwall. For the same reason as Song 2. Champagne Supernova is way better, as is Whatever.

Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Again, for the same reason as listed above. Nirvana have way better songs, but none of them made the impact that Teen Spirit did.

There's tons more...
Politicians kissing babies for good luck,
TV preachers sell salvation for a buck.
You don't need no golden cross to tell you wrong from right,
The world's worst murderers were those who saw the light.

Agreed, but.....I am going to watch Chris Cheney, Phil Jamieson, Josh Pyke, Tim Rogers with a 21 piece rock orchestra play the White Album in it's entirety at the Festival Theater in a few weeks.

As a big Living End and Grinspoon and You am I fan I'm looking forward to seeing these guys put their own spin on it and would expect the show to include some classics from each of those ensembles to finish off the night.

Mickey by Toni Basil.

Thought it was awesome when I was 8.

And had my name/nickname as a #1 hit song.

But after having people sing it at me for 32 years...

I never, ever want to hear ANYONE sing "Hallelujah" ever again. Even John Cale.

Ha ha just re-read the thread title. I've never liked it either, but heard it enough to drive a small stake through Don McLean's face....

Don and I are not related, thankfully.
Although, had we been, I might have been able to do the stake thing for you.

Funnily enough, that was the only Nickelback song I could tolerate, mainly because it reminded me of meeting my wife for the first time.

I liked it for a few weeks and then the radio stations went mental on it.
