if you are going to include VFL then should include SANFL and WAFL or just limit it to AFL

And here we go again[/

When they reorganize the starting year to 1870 we're gonna need a bigger cabinet to hold our 22 cups

You have 22 cups? How cute....

port magpies flags don't go toward the powers flag count... Port Power = 1....

Remember Port joined the VFL which turned into the AFL.......

It stoops to this in a Malthouse thread.

Nope, Port Adelaide Football Club joined the AFL, not the VFL.

So if the AFL is going to acknowledge all of the Carlton/Geelong etc Football Clubs premierships why should our SANFL flags be seen any differently?

Will the 4 flags essendon won in the VFA count? Will Collingwoods VFA flag count? Will North Melbournes 6 VFA flags count? Western Bulldogs will jump up the tally with their 9 VFA premierships

Better believe it. It's gonna be categorized into leagues and eras. The AFL start year will change from 1990 to 1987.

LIKE, LIKE, LIKE, LIKE!!!!

I couldn't give a stuff about cups of years gone by EXCEPT to say that it's been 19 years since we've won one which is too long.

I worry about today and the future.

We should be more concerned on where the club is heading than looking over our shoulder at glory days (that are getting so far back, my eyes can't focus on them any more).

I think people do care though, history is what defines a club, its what makes rivalries last for eternity, history is soley unique to each club

Coming from a soccer back ground I find AFL fans really don't acknowledge their past as well as lots of other sports and in particular soccer

Currently my club West Ham are looking at a change of club logo and its become the biggest issue within the club in the last 50 years, this new logo has to be perfect, it can't be just some fancy holographic look that kids will like more, it has to have meaning and relevance behind it.

In the AFL you see clubs give up its name, change logos, change colours willy nilly without a second thought.

I find if very odd.

I can see why you don't care but i think it's an interesting debate and goes to prove why the AFL is still nothing more than a re-branded VFL and not a truly national competition!
