It was definately not clear cut. The motion just scraped through (14 for and 7 against) giving only just the 2/3rds majority in favour of the motion that was required to see it passed under the rules of the constitution. Interestingly 4 of the current 7 A Grade clubs voted against the motion. The voting in favour from the clubs not currently playing A Grade doesn't really seem justified given that none of those clubs indicated they would want to field an A Grade Team when that question was posed after the vote. Very disappointing and if you have a look at the AEHCA facebook page, it is a matter that is quite the discussion amongst current A Grade Clubs.

We'll give it a go and see what we all think at seasons end.

Maybe more clubs will be able to field a competitive A Grade team now because heaps of the best players will leave :D

Do you think the non A grade clubs should have abstained from voting?

Interesting to note that so many people are keen to have a say on the matter and there's certainly nothing wrong with that,at all, but when it came to filling a vacancy on the Executive committee, no one was willing to accept the position thus leaving it 1 short. :?
My preference would be for the A Grade to retain the 2 day / 1 day mix of games but with the A Grade comp being reduced from 11 teams in 2011/12 down to 8 teams in 2012/13 and then down to only 7 since 2014/15 with NO sign of any other club looking remotely close to returning A Grade i think the all 1 day comp is worth a crack at luring a few teams back to A Grade. Whilst it may not have an immediate effect this season, one would hope that a few clubs will be working hard to return in the following season or 2.
The positives and negatives of the predominantly 2 day format have been well documented and there will be new positives and negatives with the new structure no doubt but without giving it a go we will never know.
If for some reason the new structure is a complete disaster then contrary to some peoples beliefs, i dont see it as a huge problem to revert back if thats the consensus of the clubs.

Thats a very interesting question.
The system in place rightly allows every club to vote on constitutional changes and it seems that all clubs exercised that right.
I can see peoples reasoning in thinking that maybe only the 7 current A Grade clubs vote on the matter but then again other Non A Grade clubs may have sights on returning to A Grade competition in coming years if it were to be an all 1 day comp. By voting it in they can then work on developing / attracting players to return to A Grade with the surety it will be a one day comp.
As with many of the questions and opinions put forward by the many people interested in their own local club or association matters, there's often no rights or wrongs as quite simply differing structures, rules, conditions etc suit different people dependent on a whole range of things, hence it's impossible to please everyone.

Maybe all the A grade clubs should choose to drop down to the B Grade.

Problems solved.

Each club gets a vote as does each member of the Association Committee. 14 clubs plus seven committee members present on the night.

I can't believe this motion got through with only 3 of the current A grade sides voting for it! I understand when I was involved in this competition all clubs are allowed to vote. However in my opinion I believe only the current A grade sides and maybe a couple of the stronger A2 sides should've been able to vote! The simple fact is the smaller clubs at the moment will always struggle to field an A grade side due to the fact there just isn't enough quality cricketers in the hills! A change Of format won't change that!

Definitely not CM. I think it is fair that all clubs get a vote as whilst they may not be playing A Grade right now, they may have in the past or may do in the future, and for that, all clubs should have the opportunity to shape the Association they play in as they have in the past and will do into the future. My comment on the 4 A Grade clubs voting against the motion was simply an observation.

Sorry to be technical ;) but whilst technically there are still 14 clubs, Milang dont have any teams and wernt represented at the meeting resulting in 13 clubs voting along with 8 of the 9 Executive members. The vice President was unable to attend and was an apology.

Jackpot I know certain clubs have people on the executive committee as well, one who was very heavily involved in the proposal, was he allowed to vote? I would hope not! Simple fact is I was speaking to guys from other associations and they are shocked that this Comp would make this decision. It's going to fun to watch when it goes downhill!

Whilst there have been predictions of dire consequences from some quarters and a strengthened and more even competition from others, we will only really know once the season has commenced and we get some 45 over A Grade cricket under our belts. If it works well then great, if it doesn't work out the decision can easily be reversed and a two day comp reinstated.

Hearing that certain clubs in the A grade are weighing up if they change associations as they are disgusted by this vote. Well done association!
