Brendan McCartney quits as Bulldogs coach

Talk on the national game

Macca demanded too much from the players. They finished 15th, 15th and 14th. Bloody hell I would also be demanding a bit from them if this is what hey dished up.

Also is Chris Grant the Mark Riccutio of the Bulldogs?

Also very unusual that the President did all the talking and not a word (that I saw) from the CEO in the media conference ...

Disgraceful by the Bulldogs but hey why wouldn't you let a bloke like Ryan Griffen run your club. Had the opportunity to show some loyalty sell Griffen high and build a great future. What now? Griffen will still go next year as a free agent.

And they have the nerve at the press conference to say in regards to Ryan that contracts are contracts? What about the coach you just sacked with 2 years to run.

Ah well at least the properly managed clubs get taxed more so we can keep propping up the likes of Melbourne and the Bulldogs.

Clubs keep banging on about loyalty and contracts for players but turn into hypocrites when its related to coaches. Its a free for all and they mean nothing, Simple as that!

Officially he resigned ... I guess we'll never know whether he genuinely resigned or had no choice and was told to.

I can't believe they have done this. McCartney has an excellent footy brain. I reckon Geelong should get him back and piss of O'Bree.

Lingy tweeted it best:

"After 3 seasons, Macca 20wins 46 losses v Clarko 28wins 40 losses. Dogs baulk v Hawks didn't. Average club v great club. Success takes time."

what a ******* joke

what more can a coach do with a squad like that

I felt that they were a team slowly building - just a little too inconsistent

so I hope the western bulldogs and the senior players that forced this decision play out their remaining days in a team that sits at the bottom of the ladder

no wonder they haven't won a flag since noah was a boy!

This is the coach that dropped Mcrea mid year for no apparent reason, after he was dominating on all fronts for them.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Akermanis alluded to bad culture a few years ago lead by senior players.
Seems it has continued.
The coach has been brave enough to call out a few and been knifed.
If the club stuck by him they may just of changed the culture.
Not to the same level but who will ever know if it could of had a result along the same lines as when Blighty gave McDermott, Jarman and McGuinness their marching orders..??

And Ryan Griffen still want's to be traded..

The Bulldogs are already struggling to get high profile recruits or coaches and once again they shoot themselves in the foot.

Good luck to the new coach especially if a couple of players don't agree with you.
