Cheney is a known and proven SPUD. At least Hartigan has size and may well turn in to a good defender for years to come it's a bit of an unknown where as with Cheney we all know.

Cheney v Hardigan I know who I'd be playing.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Tough spot for Walsh. Realistically a large number of the Crows group just don't look good enough. However, as things stand they are well in the hunt for finals action, so how much can he afford to tinker when it comes to list assessment?

How so?
They guy has only ever been used at Hawthorn when their key defenders are injured and he has to match up on the opposition best forward. He is not a key defender but a "3rd tall" type of player coming in 3rd up to spoil.
He is never going to beat the best talls one on one. Your critisim should go to Walsh for putting him in the role against Port.

Agree with MW.

I think if Adelaide get their key posts sorted in Talia and Hartigan/Lever, then there is no reason that Cheney couldn't be a part of Adelaide's best 22. I quite like him as that intercept defender, and he does have some rebound capability, as he isn't a bad user of the footy. If Cheney can improve the offensive side of his game (can defend very well when playing opponents of similar size).

This probably wouldn't be too bad a move as it would release Smith into the midfield as an elite user of the footy, an area where Adelaide went begging on Sunday.

was a pretty workmanlike performance by the Crows. Thought we probably could have gone for the jugular but we just kept Gold Coast at arms length for the rest of the game.

St Kilda at home this week, hopefully another win though as we have seen St Kilda have the ability to put in a good performance

If Sloane has a broken cheekbone they would be foolish to play him.
Kerridge is about the only one from the ressies who would even be close to a call up but even he burnt it a bit. On Friday's performance Hartigan wont get back in this year unless there are injuries, he was woeful

Kerridge comes in for Cameron and CEY comes in for Wright/Lyons.

Kerridge has done more than enough to be recalled back in to the side, and offers the same style of play as Cameron (except for speed), but can pinch hit in the middle.

CEY is a no brainer (if 100%) and I think Wright or Lyons makes way for him. Lyons did not take advantage of the full game offered unfortunately.

Agree, too many passes were at the feet of the target, lucky to play a bottom 4 team that also had players out.

my team going in to round 7

Lever Talia Brown
Jaensch Hartigan Cheney
Smith Dangerfield Mackay
CEY/Kerridge Jenkins/Lowden Grigg
Lynch Walker Betts
Jacobs Thompson CEY/Sloane

Kelly NVB Crouch Laird

Out - Wright, Cameron, Sloane, Lyons
In - CEY/Kerridge, Jenkins/Lowden, Hartigan

If CEY and Sloane are fit, CEY starts over Kerridge
If Sloane misses and CEY plays - kerridge plays forward CEY mid
If CEY misses, Wright stays in the side
Hartigan has to play (unfortunately) as we need another big guy down back. We need to back him in with his size and rely on Lever and Cheney to be third up or chop out mark ala Gibson from the Hawks
Jacobs is going to burn out if he doesn't have support and we need Jenkins or Lowden playing CHF/FF and backing Sauce up in the ruck. I would be given Lowden a few weeks to show what he has to offer in the lead up to the bye rounds.

I dont think you can play Lever, Talia, Cheney and Hartigan in the same backline. A little top heavy.

with Lever at the size he is now, i don't see a major problem with it. he and kelly will be rotating together so they all wouldn't be in the backline at the same time.

Kelly lever and Cheney all have the ability to play on mid sized players (and are probably better suited to doing so) so I think it is fine.

Still worried about one of Cheney and kelly having to stand a tall, Dickson and lynch both looked dangerous when they were the one that wasn't on talia.

Really liked Griggs game. Reckon I counted at least 3 or 4 times he had a 50m lace out pass. Uses the ball too well not to be in our side imo. Hopefully he takes his opportunity

Cameron plays purely for pace and experience. The kid can get the ball and gets into good spots, just needs to learn how to use it better. Working with Eddie i'm sure he will get there. The future is bright for Cameron IMHO and plays infront of Lyons and Grigg.

M Crouch also plays infront of Lyons/Grigg/Wright for me, composed and uses the ball well. Griggs game was good though, when he is on he has a lethal left foot..

As soon as Lowden is match fit (remembering he missed almost the whole preseason) he will come into the team. In the meantime i think they will go with just Sauce and play a more mobile forward line.

heres what my best 22 looks like

Brown Talia Cheney
Jaensch Lever Laird
Smith Thompson Mackay
Lynch Jenkins/Lowden Douglas
Cameron Walker Betts
Jacobs Dangerfield Sloane
Crouch Crouch Ellis-Yolmen Van Berlo

So that would be Crouch Douglas and Ellis-Yolmen and Jenkins missing from our 22.

Think Crouch will come in for wright when ready, and first in last out for Lyons and Grigg. Not sure if we can play Kelly and Cheney, both the 3rd tall, With Lever and Talia the KPP.

Henderson is fighting with Laird and Jeansch I reckon. Brown is the small lock down defender, where as Laird and Jeansch are creators of half back with Smith dropping back depending on the mid rotation.

We cant play Talia, Lever, Cheney, Kelly, Henderson, Laird, Jaensch, Brown and Smith in the same team. Too much defence.
