Tasmania v South Australia - Shield

Postby heater31 » Fri Dec 05, 2014 11:16 am

Right as the skipper of the national team said we must continue on to tea....

Personally I think we are 50/50 that this will be going ahead next week. It has really knocked the boys about and if we do play I doubt Tom Cooper will play.

Cosgrove must stand up and repay the faith SACA have shown in him allowing him to move back home.

Cooper seems to be the one struggling the most having lived here with Hughes.

Most of the other players seemed to have been named for their Grade Clubs, originally they were only playing Saturday and would be slashed out for Sunday as they were flying to Hobart.

This all may change in the next day or two, as appears they may not be ready to play on Tuesday mentally.

excuse my ignorants Heater... And i'm sure i'll cop flack for asking (as i should know) but what is your role in the team? I ask only because youve said a couple times "us" and "we"

Currently training on Adelaide Oval this morning so I guess they will make their decision today. Slightly frustrating as our club can't finalise teams until we know who is on the plane to Hobart.

Redbacks team? Not much apart from a South Australian, a net bowler to a couple of blokes that are contracted/play for my club and after these past few days a caring club mate and friend to those same two blokes. Never got near that level of cricket nor likely to as I'm on the back stretch of my career.

Good luck to the Redbacks in what will be an incredibly tough match for them. It will be almost as hard for all Shield sides. Wonder if Abbott will play? I heard he resumed bowling in the nets.

Abbott has decided to sit out of Grade Cricket as has MItchell Starc, but maybe this is so they are rested for the Shield game. Only time will tell.

Couldn't blame Cooper for taking a bit longer, going home every day and his mate not being there would be a big reminder and may take a little longer to get his head back into cricket.

It may be a lot easier to go out to Grade Cricket and play with Club mates around you as opposed to going out and playing in a team without the bloke.

Good luck to them and we are behind them all no matter what they decide to do.

Big Effort from Tom Cooper, spoke to the media at the airport and said he will be right to go.

Zampa, Richardson (both East Torrens boys) and Worrall will not play though.

Would have thought on current form they would have gone the other way, Smith and Valente instead of Raphael and Lawford.

Must have wanted the experience in the line up.

Lawford's pair on the weekend must have got him over the line!

I don't know what they were thinking Raphael has a 2nd XI 150, a club 150 on a slow outfield and a 48 off 150 balls in the last month. I know Kelvin got 150 on the weekend but unsure of his last month of form.

Lawford had a stinker with the bat. Lost his off stump to a full toss in one innings.

I have no real issue with them picking Raf, has been in good form and did a pretty good job most of last year opening.

Kelvin also dominated that Second XI game opening with Raf, made a big hundred the first innings, then followed up with 96 second dig when Raf made his century.

Think they probably made the right call, hope he get some runs and prove them right.

Kelvin will get his chance soon enough.
