Obviously not related, but isnt there a chap from Sydney that has not returned in 3 years from knee infections that are not allowing his recon to heal? They can be nasty obviously...fingers crossed for him.

My bloody oath. The kid deserves a break! A fair go that is.....

Best of luck to the bloke. I think EVERYONE that barracks for any AFL team other than Geelong also thinks the same way.

Tom's best footy is ahead of him still, he's had bigger things on his mind this season and I'm sure he'll finish his career as a 300 gamer with over 800 goals.
Great signing for the cats, comforting signing for the Tomahawk.

It could be worth while if structured right. It isn't at the moment. Clearly.

There should be a glass ceiling in place, get over that and pay a tax, not just pay because you're one of the biggest earners.

Bullshit. You honestly think clubs don't work their arses off?
I tell you what, take prime time games, ANZAC Day games, Queens Birthday games, Friday nights etc away from certain clubs & give them to the Western Bulldogs, North, Port, St Kilda, and then give the Essendons, Collingwoods, Carltons & Richmonds the Saturday twilight, early Sunday & Sunday twilight games for 4 or 5 years in a row - then see how "working your arse off" goes.
Sponsors will drop off real quick, as will memberships.
Of course this will never happen, the AFL won't allow it.
This tax is their way of saying "we know the fixture is unfair, we know we pander to certain clubs, but we'll implement this tax to at least look like we're attempting some sort of even playing field" - yeah right.

Crap, just face it some clubs dont draw no matter what timeslots they get. Collingwood nearly shut the doors before Eddie got there but he has built them up to what they are now, same with Hawthorn who nearly had to merge but got together and worked their way out if strife. Richmond's transformation off field has been amazing also.
Yes Essendon get ANZAC day but only get 2 Friday night games ( both against North ) and yet we still get decent crowds and memberships and have NEVER been given a AFL handout. We are playing the worst of any side in the comp and still get half decent crowds. There are some clubs that no matter how many Friday night or marquee games they get will still never get a decent crowd

Just confirms your bias. Every club have hard core support as well as bandwagon supporters. Even Hawthorn as you will see when your own Dads army gives it away.
