Top 4 - anything less is unacceptable.

Proved last year that their best is good enough (beat Hawthorn, Port, Sydney away and won both games in Perth).
North's biggest problem last season, and still remains is consistency (losses to lowly Carlton, Brisbane & Adelaide). The Prelim loss was poor, with the GF result showing how far off we are still. More players need to play well more often.
Playing 3 finals in 2014 should hopefully give the side experience & hunger to go further.
The addition of Higgins is crucial if he stays fit. All class & knows where the goals are.
Waite on the other hand, I'm not so convinced this is a good move - time will tell.
Still have a relatively young list, with a few old heads also.
Boomer's 400th something to look forward to - barring injury/suspension.

Double up games ; Geel, Ess, Bris, Rich & Freo.
Games at ; Etihad 11, MCG 2, Tasmania 3, Geelong 1, Interstate - Adelaide 1, Perth 1, Gold Coast 1, GWS 1, Gabba 1.

NORTH Melbourne footballer Trent Dumont has made a brief court appearance over an alleged taxi robbery.
Dumont, 19, faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday on one aggravated count of robbery.

Police have alleged he and another man threatened a taxi driver, demanding money, during an incident at North Tce on October 12.

It is alleged that, when the driver refused their demands, one of the men stole a log book and got out of the taxi.

The driver was allegedly assaulted when he tried to get his book back, and it is further alleged the duo stole money from the taxi.

Dumont — who has yet to play a senior game for the Kangaroos — was released on bail.

The court heard prosecutors were still waiting on documents pertinent to their case, including an additional statement from the alleged victim.

Dumont was remanded on continuing bail until next month.

Great to see Trent Dumont not only make his debut, but have a fair impact

If anything but a top four position is deemed unacceptable for North this year then you are in for disappointment. You'll need to play a lot better than what is left of Geelong with three extra players to trouble the top sides.

Agree.
But yesterday for North was about getting the 4 points any way possible. Wasn't pretty and we have a lot of players who are treading water at the moment. A wounded Hawthorn this week - good time to kick start the season.

Brad Scott's presser was his best I've seen at least. Very honest and composed normally blames everyone else but credit where it's due. No disgrace in losing to the Hawks.

Massive game next week v the Tigers. Loser up the creek with out a paddle

Brad Scott sidelined for up to 4 weeks with back surgery.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-06-01/n ... ck-surgery

NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott will miss four matches after deciding to have back surgery following weeks of intense pain.

Despite hoping medication and treatment would be able to manage his condition, the back concern has increased in recent weeks to the point he will go under the knife, which will see Scott sit out at least four games as North coach.

He is expected to be back coaching by round 15. The club hopes to have him back at Arden Street a week earlier, but he will not be able to fly to the Gold Coast for the Roos' clash with the Suns in round 14.

"The last two weeks in particular [the injury] has deteriorated to the extent where surgery is the only option. That has to be done, on the advice of surgeons, as soon as possible," Roos football manager Geoff Walsh said on Monday.

"It's obviously not great timing, and Brad was hopeful this was something he could deal with in the off-season and push through but symptoms and the pain levels have become such that he requires immediate surgery."

Senior assistant Darren Crocker, who played 165 games for the club in a 14-year career which included the 1996 premiership, will take on the position in Scott's absence.

The Kangaroos host West Coast at Blundstone Arena on Sunday before playing the Swans at Etihad and the Giants away before their bye in round 13.

After the break, North take on the Suns and the following week it locks horns with Geelong at Etihad Stadium.

Walsh conceded the club's run of interstate travel had also been a factor in Scott deciding to have the surgery now.

'Disgusting' Roos face axe after loss to Pies

Following the sacking of Mick Malthouse last week, Drew Petrie talked about Crocker’s stint as North’s interim coach in 2009 on the AFL Exchange podcast.

"He brought in some really good standards and I know he wanted to create this high-performance culture. That’s probably the first time I heard that, that high-performance culture in 2009, when ‘Crock’ took over," Petrie said.

Crocker retired in 1998, and then coached Port Melbourne in the VFL for a season before joining Richmond as an assistant to Danny Frawley.

He returned to North as an assistant to Dean Laidley in 2004, becoming the club’s interim coach after Laidley resigned following the club’s 44-point loss to Adelaide in round 12, 2009.

Crocker coached the Roos for 10 matches, finishing with a record of three wins, six losses and a draw.

Brad Scott was named as North’s coach for the 2010 season with two rounds remaining in 2009, although Crocker coached out the year.

The Roos finished 2009 in 13th position.
