Talk on the national game

Hawthorn 2015

Postby MatteeG » Mon Feb 09, 2015 5:11 pm

Managed to keep fairly quiet over the post season, which i like!

Can we snag a 3-peat? Will the old legs of some of the champs finally slow?

I'm looking forward to seeing some games from Jed Anderson, Billy Hartung and hoping like hell Brendan Whitecross gets some luck. Hope Ceglar uses last year's disappointment at missing the GF to spur him on. Frawley will need to make a spot his own, or he'll be the highest paid VFL player this year.

For the new ones, Pittonet looks like he has a bit of go for a young ruckman and Hardisty looks as though he has a bit to offer too. O'Rourke too obviously has some talent which would be good to see.

Why are they wearing blue and black?

still can't quite work out why they think these types of jumpers are a good idea.

replace your predominately dark colour with white. for teams with stripes, you may have to go towards a V or something instead. Every club is mandated to wear their white jumper at EVERY away game unless they are playing sydney

honestly how hard is it?

also, it seems like the hawks are beatable after all!

Missing Mitchell, Gibson and Frawley .. Put the cue in the rack a bit too soon and still fell 4 seconds short. Reckon that was a great wake up call for them yesterday

They are certainly still premiership favourites by a long way. But going by pre season hype they were going to win every game by 10 goals

Intersting article about Rioli and how we value players in general.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2 ... ayer-value

An interasting corollary is Dangerfield and people saying that they dont want him because he has below average disposal, ignoring the fact that he is third in the comp for contested possessions (behind Fyfe and Priddis)

I don't want Danger cos I don't think his contested possessions are worth what is being bandied about

Cyril however could easily fit into the forward pocket with Hawkins
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

I'd have Danger. We will have a need for contested ball in the next 2 years when the old firm start moving on.

We'll teach him to kick.

I'd have Danger instead of Rioli any day. Riolis rarely got a kick against Geelong in the last 7 years, most overrated player going around IMHO.

2 goals and 10 possessions in a side that won easily. Hardly a stand out, but yes, one of his best games against us probably which wouldn't be hard considering he went missing for a few years after that.

Roughhead out indefinately after having a cancer removed from his lip.
Hopefully they got it all out and it didn't spread and the big guy has a full recovery sooner rather than later.

definitely.

I wonder how long he will be out for. It clearly hasnt been obviously affecting his performances so far, but I am guessing he wont play until they are sure it hasnt spread anywhere else. Assuming it hasnt though would be come straight back in?
