Port's use of runner/physio v Sturt to be investigated

Power reserves had their runner filling gaps all day against the Eagles the previous week, blatantly obvious. The umpires these days are too gutless to make a decision about that unless they are instructed from the umpires hierarchy. Hopefully with a bit of exposure now they will be prepared to make a decision to stop the cheating.

All runners do it.

Anyway this isn't about the runner. Get with the times.

Also do we need a thread dedicates to Port lies? Just read Kane Cornes is retiring . Didn't the coach say he would mange him to play out the year ? The same coach who said Butcher is an AFL standard player ?

Oh and Rising Power .................how do you know the reserves umpire was not informed of the extra person on the field who should not be in the game mentioned.

Why didn't the emergency umpire do anything about it ?

There are no Emergency umpires in the SANFL (only in Finals).

Would it really, or would Port see the fact that Wilson is out there coaching the players far more beneficial than any free kicks it might cost them?

Glad this was picked up. It's the first ever instance of this happening in any football league, anywhere since the game began.

How dare we do that! I guess we are genuinely the most innovative club in South Australia.

I tell you what, if any club ever does it anywhere else, ever, they're just copying us!

I think everyone needs to keep it in perspective.

All Port has done is break the rules rather deliberately. That's usually called cheating.
Having extra personnel on the oval 'coaching' players and giving instructions by cheating to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents might be called match fixing.
Any club anywhere in any league caught match fixing would be demoted but as there is no pyramidal system with promotion or relegation in the SANFL the only real option is to suspend them from the league for the remainder of the season.

This of course would lead to an unfair advantage to the Adelaide Crows who would have the opportunity to develop players through the reserve team with extra coaching and instruction. Any team that gains an unfair advantage over its opponents might be considered to be match fixing.

Problem solved.

I've occasionally seen team runners blocking space/offering instruction.
I've never seen the team physio do it, though. That's something new.

Reminds me of Auskick where parents are on the ground telling their kids which way yo kick the ball, are Port recruiting simpletons?
Even high school quarterbacks can memorise a play book!

All levels of football, and sadly SANFL league football in the current form, needs a Dad to run out on the ground and yell at every one to "spread out, make some space".

It isn't only Auskickers who need to be given that advice.

One would think that Port's play book was especially simple to commit to memory:

Opposition has the ball: go the knuckle
Marking attempt in defensive lines: go the knuckle
Ruck contest: go the knuckle
etc...

Yeah I'm hoping that by the end of the season the whole coaching staff will be on the field riding segways, barking instructions and blocking opposition players

Quite complex compared to the one used at Brighton Road.

Sad thing is with Glenelg employing a past PAFC player they are in danger of trying the same tactics ;)

A couple of years ago, the magpies began openly transferring power reserves players to within their own ranks, in open defiance of the rules. The SANFL responded by giving them a whole team used specifically for that purpose with special operating rules unique to that side. I am now wondering if this current development is a precursor to port being allowed extra players on the field, "for the benefit of the wider footballing community ", of course.

It's the umpires fault.
