Wayne Campbell making more excuses for the umpires.

"Miscommunication between umpire coaches and umpires" What a crock of shit.

Absolute joke.

I dont necessarily mind if they want to change umpiring interpretations, even if it is during the year, but if they are going to do it, BLOODY TELL US ABOUT IT.

So we dont end up spending the whole round frustrated that they are giving free kicks for things that they didnt the week before.

Is there another game in the world that can be interpreted so differently from week to week?

Hmmm yep, probably better off worrying about his own troops, than criticising an ex bomber player, smacks of sour grapes....I admired the way he played, but it's hard to admire anything he has done since then. His coaching record speaks for itself (ordinary).... The bombers have many problems, and it begins (and ends) it would appear with their coach.

if anyone else said that, it wouldnt have been an issue. As what he said is probably not far off, but the facts are the score sheet has Ryder with 4 goals and the Dons lose. The rest doesnt matter.

IMO the bigger issue with ports win, while a wins a win, it may have papered over a few cracks. What did you port blokes think of the performance?

I'm waiting for the replay as I was 20 odd cans into my day and had to re-check who won on my 4am scull of some cordial and a wee break.

Think you are spot on FS, any other coach says it and it would of been glossed over. Hird probably shouldnt of said it because he knows the media will be all over it even if there was some truth to it. Ryder was hopeless for 3/4 but you make your own luck and he was really good last quarter and whilst I dont think he was the differance in the end he definately contributed.

The pres would be pulling his hair out (doesnt have any but he would if he did :D ) he would just want James tio shut his mouth!

As you said, you make your own luck. You did most things right for 3 and a half qtrs but just couldnt put the gap beyond 4 goals. I think its was 6 straight points didnt help either.

I think the six straight point Essendon kicked WAS the main reason they lost.

Yep, more scoring shots and nearly 100 more possies. Broke even at Inside 50's and Clearances. Poor kicking at goal cost us dearly

And....most stats were pretty even.

I50 - Port 50-49
Clearances - Port 46-43
Tackles - Port 76-67.....but James can blame nobody but himself for the fact Essendon won disposals 387 to 292 and did nothing with it. Nearly 100 more disposals for 1 less Inside 50. Some was say Essendon were lucky to **** around with it so much and still manage 17 goals.

It's a tale of their season, win more of the ball and have NFI what to do with it. Perhaps they're just unlucky, James?

I think James made a fair point about Paddy.
and why is what Jimmy said such an issue?

perhaps he should just stay focused on his own team and all other coaches should follow suit and not share views on oppossition players

Because James Hird has as much credibility as Gabi Grecko.

James just seemed like he was in a bad mood. Happens when you lose.
