McNiel injured his shoulder during the pre season Blitz tournament dunking competition and we didn't see the best of him. Was the leading scorer pre season.
Would love to keep Randle but higher honours await him I think. Had the pleasure of talking to him late last week, both him and his family love it here.

Good win but we need to stop the lapses in concentration

If you go to games try and sit near the 36ers bench where she sits. So funny especially when Randles playing not so good she yells abuse towards him

With Julian Khazzouh out for the rest of the season the Sydney Kings are bringing their assistant coach and former NBL journeyman Ben Knight out of retirement to fill in on a temporary basis. Knight has been retired for four years and also sits on 399 games played.

I thought the NBL had been 10 minute quarters for over 10 years? Fox Sports played a historic match from 2008 finals and the quarters at that stage were 12. When did they change?

I think it might've been the 2009/10 season it started when Basketball Australia took over the league and brought it into line with FIBA and the rest of the world outside the NBA.

Not sure why we ever had 12 minute quarters because only the NBA does it.

Aside from the fact every other pro league bar the NBA uses 10 min quarters and all international basketball is also 10 min quarters it was silly and 10 min quarters are much more attractive to TV networks because broadcasts can fit in 2 hour blocks rather than 2.5 hour blocks.

Dont worry about the history of the league or anything. All of Gaze's scoring records and Al Green's 71 will never be beaten playing 8 minutes less a game. Fans are given shorter games and until this season given inferior talent and still charged the same for the experience. No wonder the league nearly died.

I would've thought it were better to be like the NBA than any other league if emulating other leagues is important.

Yes, the stats thing hurts but once you get over that I don't think it's worth worrying about. Talent is irrelevant if anything 12 min quarters might've dissuaded talent from coming.

The NBA is the only pro league that does it. Think about it. 99% of the world plays 10 min quarters it was stupid to copy them in the first place.

When the league was at its best it was 12 minute quarters. I know they wanted to change things to keep the league alive but dont think the quarter length was something that needed to change. You say they dont want to copy the nba but the whole experience is trying to be like an NBA game.

Because of the talent not the length of quarters. When European leagues started swelling with money the talent went there, now that European economies are on the wane talent is now returning. I've never heard anywhere that changing from 12 to 10 min quarters had anything to do with keeping the league alive. BA is a FIBA affiliated body when the league transferred from private hands to essentially the govt body they then wanted to put their stamp on the league by bringing into line with the rest of the world (bar the NBA) with things like 10 min quarters, five fouls per player, no jumpballs, possession arrow etc,

I agree the presentation package is very similar to an NBA game and I think that needs to change.

What I mean is, decide whether you want 10 or 12 minute quarters on merit, not based on what other countries do. I couldn't give a toss what FIBA or the other countries do.
