Heard they made a generous offer to Dylan Chaffey who's been at Sedan Cambrai for a couple of years.

Paying players is overrated and pointless in "Amateur" football.

Unfortunately I think your views are a little out dated - this is hardly "Amateur" football anymore, and if you want your club to progress up the divisions etc then the reality is you need to be some what flexible and accommodating and open to providing incentives to certain people..

Not saying I necessarily agree with it, but that's the way it is...

and the higher you go, the more it costs you - fact.

I have been playing footy since I cant remember. It's always been known as "Amateur" footy and as everyone knows, people get paid silly amounts to have a kick with your mates. Whether it be country or local footy. The amount of money been thrown around to entice players to play at your club just to add another piece of silver wear to the mantle is ridiculous. "Amateur" footy is what it is.

I'd be very disappointed if Chaffey wasnt at Salisbury next year. Told me he was coming back and he received a lot of support from the club this season even though he played at Sedan

It is what it is these days, everyone thinks they are worth something and clubs are willing to pay it. If you can get it good luck to you.

Clubs that dont pay may have it tougher initially, just means you need to entice players to your club other ways.

How many Div 6/7 clubs wouldn't be paying players these days?
