Can sympathise with them over Gus

You guys traded and were well compensated for a guy you have made it clear that is lazy and whom you don't rate.

I watched Koshi last night and it was clear that Port said they knew the risks with him. I dont think you can hold it against clubs that are a bit peeved though.

Although I dont think that clubs should be seeking compo if they new the risks but its fair for them to be pissed off.

At the end of the day Essendon did this Jim. They did this to themselves and it won't be just other AFL clubs effected as well.

So Port people, what rookies will you be looking to upgrade?

Well Krak and Mitchell are the logical choices, both with AFL experience.

Do we then ask to "replace" the spot of Monfries ( we knew the risk with Ryder ) on the list?

If not, we have no rookies to upgrade if injury hits. ( Fingers crossed )

We should be able to pick a rookie to replace whoever takes Monfries place on the main list. Not for Ryder, but for Monfries yes

Thats it, Essendon have gone to far now. If Kane Mitchell gets to play AFL football as a result then the EFC have a lot to answer for

Compensation is on the agenda for Port's next board meeting.

Compensation from the EFC and the AFL will be sought i'd imagine.

Compensation for Monfries but not for Ryder. When Port picked up Monfries they did so with no knowledge of what was happening at Essendon but they knew everything that could happen when they got Ryder. There is talk that some of the compensation will be that Essendon have to pay some or all of Monfries salary this year.

is Monfries is also out of contract at the end of this season? If so will Port stick by him and give him another contract, maybe for a year, or have we seen the last on Gus as an AFL player?

There will be almost no chance of Essendon willingly paying any compensation.

If port are looking for compo for having picked up Monfries, then the obvious entity to seek compensation from is Monfries.

They will be able to argue that Monfries was aware or should have been aware that he had broken the rules that left him liable to a sanction.

We do not know if he did or did not do this.

It's an interesting discussion point.

For mine, he will get another year as a matter of honor, some reward for going through these times.

From a list management point of view, Amon, Ah Chee, S Gray, Neade and White can all fill F50/midfield roles, Polec is back ( fingers crossed ) and Monfries might not have been in our best 22 this year.

I think he will, however, be given another year next year. From what I know he's very much a leader around the club, had a lot to do with the group getting their bottom lip off the floor at the start of 2013 and got us heading in the direction we are now going.

Monfries and Ryder should not be paid a cent this season by Port, the players need to then include any lost income from 2016 in their legal action against Essendon.

There have been murmurs that Essendon will pay Gus.

No. Essendon signed or resigned those players with knowledge of the "supplements".

Port had no such Knowledge.
