That one hurt. No Mitchell so I went all in. First off Smith scores squat. Halfway through the last quarter Paddy is on 92. So I switch to Parker who was averaging 129 up to that point. By the end of the game Paddy is on 119. Post-scaling Paddy has gone up to 129. Quarter time Parker is on 23. Half time he is on 30 game over right there. Then in the last game Rich is just under and gets two kicks in literally the last minute to sink me by five. ACK. I'd rather he went big so I lost by more than the 40 points I threw away on Saturday.

It was an interesting round of SuperCoach to say the least this week as Richo Richo and Poon Army were the surprise large scorers racking up over 2200 in a 2100 par-round. As you read above Hondo has snuck over the line over the REBCats by less than a misplaced-captain's kick as the Cats paid the price by being greedy on the captain's call. Speaking of the Captain, Captain Who has put in a second shit one in a row and remarkably finds themselves out of the top eight after being cleaned up by Delicious.

Underdogs confirmed that they are the real deal with a narrow victory over Les's Men, another top side that is also out of the eight. Last season Ecky scored big but couldn't win but this year they are scoring under-par but securing vital early season victories. If Ecky can keep this up he will be nigh on impossible to stop in July and August when the Fevs make their late season charge up the rankings.

The Honey Badgers were crying in their soup a few weeks ago and saying 'No soup for you' but they have tucked in over the past two weeks and are now sitting pretty in the top eight. I'll be sending you a PM soon to find out how the **** you managed that cos I'm really battling LOL. My fellow battlers include Cork in the Ocean who are the only side without a win after Jared's Squeakeroos did just that over the SHARKS who might be tanking for draft picks. Sorry Spiro but we don't hand those out in Fantasy Football...GWS get them.

Coming to Adelaide to watch the Cats v Crows games so no write ups this week. I'm tipping my opponent will score their season high against me and I'll have more late outs than the Rat Pack.

regards,

Shattered Man.

That C choice was the crucial call. You must have upgraded Mills at the last minute because I had been thinking phew REB has Mills so I should be alright.

I was watching the close out of Danger's game like a hawk and noticed he was collected some late junk stats and figured he would push to 120 and having seen others cop the Fyfe C score a week or so ago getting greedy on a 120 VC score I decided 120 was enough if he got there. Then he got scaled to 129 and suddenly it looked a good VC score.

What really set me back was Greene and Barlow on Saturday night only getting 132 between them. I was hoping for 200. So then it came down to Rich needing 70 which I was confident on but then he tested my patience never really getting going, but did enough in the end.

As you say one more kick from Parker and you were home.

A lucky escape for me is all I can say. I have been sitting on a heap of spare cash I haven't been able to spend yet so I am an upgrade behind every week until I can clear the bank.

MATCH OF THE ROUND - Ben Rolfsburgers vs. Ecky's Fevolas

The big match this week is between the leading scorer of the league in the Rolfs up against the ladder leader the Fevs. So far this season teams have been scoring very poorly against the Fevs but scoring poorly is something that Ben Rolfsburgers seemingly never do. On paper the Fevs don't actually look that scary but they must be doing something right to be sitting on top of the ladder. Ecky has a history of playing cautiously early and as a result he has a number of players that most coaches may have already traded out. The important players for Ecky are Nic Nat who looks like he'll go large against Port , Luke Dalhaus is another key player for the Fevs who must score well although scoring against the Giants has proven to be difficult for some players this season. The Fevs have missed most of the carnage of this week with only a couple of players missing from their lineup.

Meanwhile, the Rolfs look ominous as always. However, I would have liked to take on a Rolfs side that had no Matty Boyd. Boyd won't be traded due to a one match suspension so I'll wonder if Josh will look to trade out either Hall or Ablett to maintain his scoring power advantage that he has over Ecky. I can see Ecky sitting pretty at 5-1 or maybe making a mid-weekend trade to to hold one of his major challengers at bay. I think it will be a tough match with perhaps both coaches moving the Deckchairs about and when the dust settles I reckon it might be the Rolfs that grab the chocolates.

Ben Rolfsburgers by 110 points.

The Rest

This season there are a few wobbly looking teams in the Premier League so it is hard to tip against Les's Men and Captain Who? The SHARKS are also struggling but they are up against the Honey Badgers who look to be in all sorts of trouble at the moment. I'm backing the Badgers to pull one of out of the hat this week and get the narrow victory.

My REBCats also can't win games with a five point loss to Hondo and a draw against Ben Rolfsburgers representing some handy form. However, with a donuts aplenty in my forward line I can't see the Cats getting up over the improving Pool Swimmers. Has Been needs to defeat Q to get back into finals calculations but I'm liking Q's form a bit better at the moment and I can see them getting the points. Hondo is going from strength to strength and they'll smash the Poon Army who have only notched one win from their last four games.

Underdogs and Delicious is another big match but valleys is going a bit better than Sharksta right now so I'm tipping the Rolfs/Delicious double which would leave Delicious on top of the ladder after this round. Richo Richo Man have made their move in recent weeks but I reckon they'll get stopped in their tracks by the Longwood Lions who are looking likely finalists at this stage of the year.

It's a lucky dip this week, fully dependent on who has which players missing. Teams with PODs get the choccies this week.

18 Cork in the Ocean 1 6 0 14253 14825 96.14 4

The Premier League got a bit of a shake up this week as the bottom teams went BANG and announced themselves in the competition during a high scoring round of SuperCoach. The REBCats finally broke through for that elusive victory when they carded 2522 to smash the Pool Swimmers. Last placed Cork in the Ocean has been doing bugger all this season so what a disappointment for Les's Men as Corky turned back the clock to previous seasons with an excellent 2416 which left Les floundering. A third bottom four side in the SHARKS had a crucial win as well as Spiro finally got amongst the points when they smashed a suspect Honey Badgers combination.

The real winners were the teams that were going OK and managed to win another one. Ben Rolfsburgers, Hondo SCC, Richo Richo, Q Before You, Captain Who and Underdogs all recorded important wins, almost eight point games with Delicious, Ecky's Fevolas and Longwood Lions all getting done. The big loser this week was Squeaky. With all the other teams at the bottom getting wins his narrow loss to the Captain could prove very costly when relegation is there to be avoided. Poon Army is also having a bit of a lean spell with only one win from their past five games so getting a bit anxious at the Hammo Centre this week.

Hondo SCC v Q Before You – MATCH OF THE ROUND

These two sides have a rivalry that stretches back many years in the Premier League and this edition is the match of the round this week. Both sides started somewhat slowly but Hondo in particular has ramped up the scoring to return to the list of league heavyweights. Hondo has a decided advantage in the ruck as he has the current gun pairing of NicNat and Goldstein while Q is saddled with the sporadic efforts of Jacobs to assist Goldy instead of the mighty Nic Nat who should really feast it against Gold Coast this week.

In the mids honours look pretty even with six premo mids lining up and both defences have points pig Heath Shaw in the side. Q Man has gone for the Doctor in the backline while Hondo's hopes rest with Jimmy Bartel. The Carlton v Geelong match is an important one in this fixture, I expect the Cats to hit back hard after last week's piss poor showing and that teams who have a high number of Cat players should do well. With Hondo unleashing Dangerfield, Selwood and Bartel I believe that, and an advantage in ruck should lead to a Hondo SCC victory.

Hondo SCC by 88 points.

The Rest

Has Been hasn’t quite been at their best this season but Captain Who is in top form so it could be another loss in what has been a scratchy premiership defence for the Beeners who are having their worst Premier League season to date. Honey Badgers and Squeaky square off in a vitally important match with Squeaky looking very wobbly at 1-6 to their credit. They returned to some scoring form last week so perhaps the Squeakeroos are just timing their run. A loss to the Honey Badgers, who could only manage 1900 last week would signal the end of the Squeakeroos season. I reckon Squeaky gets the chocolates.

A couple of runs ended last week with Ecky’s Fevolas suffering their first loss and Cork in the Ocean bobbing up for their first win. This week I think both teams will revert to type as I expect the Fevs to defeat the Pool Swimmers and I reckon the Longwood Lions will beat Cork in the Ocean. Another important match in this round is the clash between Delicious and Richo Richo Man. Delicious had a bit of a hiccup last week and now face a rampant Richo who are scoring well and on something of a roll. I expect that roll to continue so another win to Richo this week. The Underdogs have hit a few snags in recent weeks with their lower ranked midfielders and weren't helped by MacPherson's injury after the Dogs just traded them in for Brouch for the cash. I think the SHARKS can capitlise this week and record an upset victory.

After winning their first two matches it has been all downhill since for the Poon Army. Expect another loss for Hammo here up against the new league leaders Ben Rolfsburgers who I believe will not relinquish this spot for the rest of the season. Les’s Men are another side that were 2-0 but unlike Poon have not added to that tally. It looks like another loss here to Bians with the REBCats’ form in recent weeks on an upward curve…he says.

18 Cork in the Ocean 1 7 0 16244 17001 95.55 4

My bold prediction about Ben Rolfsbergers holding on to top spot for the rest of the season lasted two days as Poon Army came from behind to pull off one of the great boilovers in Hogg history. Somehow Poony got the job done and this allowed Hondo to swoop on the leadership of the Premier League after the wheels well and truly fell off for Q Man who lost a defender and his backup defender in the same match with two late outs. OUCH. This predicament saw Q Before You card a shitworthy score and they tumbled out of the top eight on the back of the loss to Hondo as the Longwood Lions comfortably accounted for cellar dwellers Cork in the Ocean.

Two teams that are outside the top eight had wins against fellow battlers that elevated their inconsistent units into mid table status. The Honey Badgers got the drop on Squeakeroos while REBCats consigned an unlucky Les's Men to a 6th straight loss which has seen them tumble down the ladder.

Top eight teams who won and prospered this week include Richo Richo Man who are in fine form at the moment and Captain Who?, a side that hasn't done much wrong all season except for one blowout game. As much as I have tried to write off the Underdogs they keep winning so I will fix their red wagon next week and tip them. Ecky's Fevolas got back on the winning list while Delicious did not and they are all of a sudden looking a bit vulnerable in the top eight with challengers circling below.

After eight matches a couple of teams are losing contact with the top eight. Squeakeroos have struggled all season and just aren't getting the job done despite a slight upswing in scoring in recent matches. Cork in the Ocean have only bobbed up once and SHARKS aren't exactly going swimmingly. Les's Men, as mentioned has now lost six on the trot and will need to turn that around quickly.

Has Been v Hondo SCC - MATCH OF THE ROUND

In this round there are no matches between current top eight sides so all of the teams in the eight will be pretty keen not to drop a match to one of the chasing pack. The match of the round is between the reigning premier Has Been up against the mighty Hondo SCC who are starting to loom as the heir apparent.

The Beeners have a strong squad but man for man they appear to be a player or two short of Hondo’s squad. Two players stand out for Has Been if they are to upset the ladder leaders, Stef Martin and Robbie Gray. Both of these guys can be huge scorers on their day but these guys are partially responsible for Has Been’s unsually low ladder position this season. The Beeners badly need a lift from Stef (as Hondo does from Joel Selwood) and Robbie Gray looms as a pivotal POD as the Beeners try to bridge the gap.

There has been a bit of talk about Goldy missing and if he does that would swing this match in Has Been’s favour. If Goldy plays the Goldstein/Nic Nat combination looks far stronger than Stef/Nic Nat. Both sides are quite strong but Hondo appears to be a step ahead in most departments.

Hondo SCC by 114 points.

The Rest

The Honey Badgers hit back with a win last week but I don’t think they can back it up against Captain Who are amongst the league elite once again this season. Q Before You are out of the eight and now face the fallen Rolfsbergers who will need to beat Q or risk falling back into the pack after they suffered a shock loss to Poon Army last weekend. I reckon the Rolfs get back on the winner's list so another loss coming up for Q.

The Underdogs are rolling along nicely and should continue Squeakeroos’ poor run for another week. The SHARKS will likewise find it tough to reel in Richo Richo Man who are in good form and on a bit of a roll at the moment. Delicious have been down for a couple of weeks but I expect them to return to their winning ways against last ranked Cork in the Ocean. It’s a must win for Valleys who could be in trade preservation mode at the moment.

The next couple of games will be a bit closer. Pool Swimmers have started to sink rather than swim in recent weeks and this weekend’s match against Poon Army is pivotal for both teams. Hammo has bounced back hard with a win over Ben Rolfs and can ill afford a slip up against the Swimmers. I reckon Poon in a close one. Not too much has gone right for Les’s Men in recent weeks while Ecky’s hasn’t done much wrong. I’m tiping Ecky but a Bians victory would not surprise. In the other match the REBCats need to defeat top eight opposition to make the finals and the challenge is firmly in front of my boys as they take on the Longwood Lions. It’s all been going a bit too well for me lately so I reckon Alaska might get the choccies.

Good luck to everyone except Alaska!

REB

Geez the SC gods were on my side again
Bad luck there to Has Been
I was cooked with Goldy out but then Montagna spudded up when I needed him to.
That said if Greene hadn't similarly spudded up for me it may not have mattered what Joey did
In between signatures .....

It was pretty much the top eight versus the bottom eight this round in the Premier League and most of the top sides got the job done. A couple who didn't were the suddenly out of form Ben Rolfsburgers who got rolled by a Q Man who is like me at a BBQ when there are beers left in the tub...he won't go away wondering. The big boilover was Squeakeroos' fine victory over Underdogs who I can't ever seem to tip correctly. I might just tip the Dogs every week because I need a few top eight teams to fall over to get back into this comp after the Longwood Lions were too good for me last weekend.

You can almost pick by looking at the scores who had Todd Goldstein althought Nic Nat didn't score all that much more than big Cox which would have been the standard back up option for us Goldy owners. I wouldn't mind Goldy missing against the Cats but not so for SuperCoach purposes. Richo Richo won yet again and Ecky took over top spot after smashing out an impressive score. Poon Army is back in town and he took advantage of the vagaries of the draw to get right back into finals contention with the teams immediately behind the Army taking a hit.

Meahwhile how lucky is Hondo? Another narrow win and a crucial loss for Has Been who has gone from premiership fancy to being down there in REB territory...how the mighty have fallen. But Has Been haven't fallen as hard as Corky who look to be about 150 points off the pace each week. With Squeaky firing up and the SHARKS being at least competitive it's going to take a big effort here from Cork in the Ocean to avoid relegation. Last year teams that won six went down!

yes he could be quite inconvenient for those that don't have him. Just too much a risk to trade in.....or out!
