Round 5 & its ensuing palaver.

Talk on the national game

Round 5 & its ensuing palaver.

Postby Spargo » Thu Apr 21, 2016 9:20 am

Fri 22/4
Hawthorn v Adelaide MCG (n)

Sat 23/4
Sydney v West Coast SCG
Gold Coast v North Melbourne MS (t)
Western Bulldogs v Brisbane ES (n)
Port Adelaide v Geelong AO (n)

Sun 24/4
St.Kilda v GWS E
Fremantle v Carlton DS
Melbourne v Richmond MCG (n)

Mon 25/4
Collingwood v Essendon

Very interesting round. Friday night should be a cracker - the Crows are flying whilst the Hawks aren't quite firing on all cylinders.
Swans/Eagles clashes have great history, this should be tight.
North looking to go 5-0 against a team whose made them look silly in recent times.
Bulldogs will win easily at Etihad (do they play anywhere else)?
Port are in all sorts & I reckon they'll come up short against the Cats.
Saints/Giants look really evenly matched on paper - first draw of the season?
Freo - surely this week!
Melbourne will start faves over the hapless Tiges. You wouldn't have said that 4 weeks ago.
Anzac Day - 2 of the worst teams in the AFL in front of a packed MCG. Good on them.

So pretty much anytime in the last 5 years or so?

Hope the Crows can keep their form up. The Hawks surviving a scare last week and with Junior playing his 300th won't take them likely. Be great if we get the contest most are hoping for.

Im not as confident as before the final last year. The Crows seem to have a defence, something they didnt have last year and strangely enough they are a better contested side without Dangerfield. Ill be tipping the Crows.
Im sitting on the fence at the moment as to where our motivation lies, I suspect we might be at that stage where we get up for the big games and the challengers to our throne but struggle to find the motivation in other games so a comfortable win would not surprise either.
Burgoynes 300th what a great "3" years the last 7 have been. By the end of this year he will be considered as a Hawk first Port second on games played

I am wondering if Nick Smith from Sydney will be available this week after his back complaint from the incident with Eddie Betts in the dying moments of their last round clash.. Sure hope it's nothing serious

I was just joking around but swans were up at the time and umpire misses a shocker and bett's puts you in the lead with not much time left. Momentum back to the crows..

Losing our number one ruck before the game was more costly than that...

Yeah I see what you are saying, but Crows could argue the bullshit holding the ball and deliberate out of bounds in the first quarter handed you 2 goals and momentum. Anyway no excuse for letting Betts get out the back on the last goal!
Agree on Sinclair...Tippett smashed Sauce in the ruck though but you were a forward short with him there.

Bullshit. Tippett played one of his best games so far and was all over Jacobs. Would Sinclair of given you that?

Considering Sinclair has been exceptional in the ruck the first few rounds and also another option up forward, yeah the man with the longest neck in the AFL would have been handy!

Tippett has been doing what he did Saturday night on a regular basis for some time now.

A classic statement game for the Hawks. They'll want to put the Crows to the sword to ensure they're mentally scarred for future games including potential finals.
