Well, not really. To tell the truth it's just a picture I pinched from the internet. ;)

GWS now winning 6 in a row is just crazy

is there a way to get freo's last years round 18 team, and compare to its current team, much difference in cattle?

Yep. This year there are more Cows and less Cattle. Sandilands, Fyfe and Johnson out just for starters. Ross also doesn't promote youth. Wonder where he goes next?

Could Heath Shaw win the Brownlow? His numbers have been very impressive, he could well of polled in at least 5 matches this far.

I was thinking of having a crack at Callan Ward, you would have to think him & Shaw will be pinching each others votes a bit? Does Shaw traditionally poll well?

Given Shaw's status as one of the leagues standout defenders of the AFL, he has failed to translate that to Brownlow Medal votes. He has polled in just 14 of 154 career games for a tally of 32 votes, which is a rate of 9%. He failed to poll a single vote last season.

Some players do not get a favourable look by the umpires no matter how good they are, or the way they go about the game, and Shaw appears to fit this bill. His best return was 7 votes in 2007.

Nice work Boon - $10 it is on Ward for the Brownlow.

Nope, he's polled in 14 of 154 matches and didn't poll a vote last season, his numbers are well above what he's produced any other year and he is playing in a winning side, he uses the ball well and his number of marks has increased dramatically which highlights his presence on the field from an umpires perspective.
He's at 101/1

Gets a lot of possessions but do they really hurt a team? Many kicks are short passes in the backline.

We're talking umpires here, they have their own game to worry about and hearing names repetitively, seeing the same players emerge from the bottom of the pack handing the ball back and seeing players take clean grabs stick out.

Yeah - the ch7 commentators kept going on about his kicking eff in sundays game and how amazing it was blah blah and I reckon every time it was brought up Leigh Mathews said something along the lines of his kicks being all in the back half/short chips/uncontested etc.

GWS definetley look for him a lot, the metres gained stat shows he is kicking it forward a lot aswell but in general it just seems like most of his kicks aren't really hurting the opposition.

if you guys reckon he didnt hurt the bulldogs on the weekend you are watching a different game than me...

didnt miss a target. and most of them werent short kicks either, had 14 rebound 50s which means he wasnt just hitting the short kicks when he was kicking out.

will have to check the prospectus when i get home but pretty sure he was rated in the top few in the comp for kicking, in their attempt to measure overall kicking and not just efficiency (i think bob was first)

Shaw's kicks in their own right might not have been all that damaging, but his kicks certainly opened up the field for the next kick to be very damaging across the middle of the ground. He was really good yesterday, watching the game last night ( and f/forwarding through the crap ) the Giants really impressed me.

It will be a huge shame if they go deep in September and if they finish top 4, a likely possibility, they could potentially draw about 15,000 to a semi or prelim final. They're close on field, off field they are miles off the pace as far as getting bums on seats goes.

What about the prospect of an all Sydney Grand Final -

It would still be a sell out, and just one big corporate junket.... Good chance the camera's would pick up plenty in the crowd just yawning.

The last game of the season is no longer, one for the average punter.
