I think you will also find Will Hewitt another big in for us this year. I know the coaching staff have big raps on him!

Have heard he's a bit of a hot-head, though.

Pretty sure he wont be able to play the first couple of rounds.

This is due to a carry-over suspension from the 2016 season he played in.

The concussion(s) fro last year really took their toll. Came to us when we were rock bottom and helped us to move forwaard.

His mark at Peter Motley Oval last year as gutsy as you will see at any level.

As an aside, well done to the Sturt supporters who have stumped up again to continue this fine gesture. Well done.

Ex Geelong listed (former) Sturt player Brad Hartman is playing for Norwood's reserves in a trial tonight.

Be interesting to see if Butcher works hard to win his own ball given he won't have an AFL midfield delivering him the ball. Nothing in his career so far has suggested he will.

On his best day he's a poor man's Allan Bartlett.

For all the criticisms of Butcher that you could throw around about him, his work rate was never one of them.

Blow for the Bloods before the season has even started:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 3ff8e75748

"West Adelaide star Jason Porplyzia will miss the SANFL season after damaging his knee in the trial game against Glenelg at Richmond Oval on Friday night. Scans have revealed he ruptured the ACL and will require a knee reconstruction. Porplyzia, a premiership player with the Bloods in 2015 after returning to the club from Adelaide, also missed most of last season because of knee issues. The injury is a huge setback for the Bloods as they look to rebound from the wooden spoon last year. The Bloods meet South Adelaide in Richmond on Friday night in the opening round."

Yes, he certainly didn't model his game on Jonathon Ross....

Port's SANFL team were far from anything special for most of last season, yet Butcher had a reasonable year. He will be a good addition for Centrals imho.
