I don't care what any of you plebs think, that is a very fair representation of where the AFL's rucks are at.

Just one question if Jacobs has more hit outs, which is a ruckmans main job, same clearances and more disposals how is he behind Ryder?

SEN is SEN radio votes, yes?

Goals? Goal assists? Marks? Marks ID50? Contested marks?

All of which, when I watch ruckman play ( a very good indicator ) , influences how I think they went vs the other ruckman.

Because of the non-anecdotal measures - the SEN votes and Coaches Votes.

They naturally bring in things like the *quality* of the hit out, the role that he plays, the importance of his disposals etc.

As I said, I think Jacobs will be #1 after the Round 20 coaches votes come out as I reckon he'll get a 7 or 8 and Ryder zilch - which will bump him ahead.

They were all part of SWARM but were removed because benny had an aneurysm.

I agree.

Sam Jacobs, as of Round 20, is my choice for AA ruckman. SWARM will verify this once we get the coaches votes.

Votes should never be included in AA selection if so the entire team would be midfielders

No I argued that some things are correlated. You still just have a random smattering of stats you think helps Ryder's case

Incorrect.

We have a ruck specific smattering of stats that favour no-one and some anecdotal expert opinion scores to balance them out. I even removed the ones you didn't like.

This put Jacobs at #1. Ryder at #2. Grundy at #3 but really its between the first two with a few games to go.

Perfectly reasonable and logical.

No. Defeats the purpose, which was to define a measure which combined the non-anecdotal with the anecdotal, as that is what the discussion at the time was about.

For example, Ryder's hit out to Gray is obviously more valuable than any run of the mill scrubber palm to no-one.

By using human interpretations (votes and scores) we naturally build in perceived quality. Which is important to consider.
