Didn't sound promising. Dropped the old "just want to concentrate on footy" line.

Yep, he's gone, McGoverns gone.
Questions need to be asked of the culture at West Lakes, these interstaters cant wait to get out of there at the first chance they get.
Maybe they have to start paying blokes overs, its only when you win flags that players will take the lesser amount for team success.

I got the impression he wants to stay and they're working through the offer from the crows.

Really?
To me it sounded like " I'd like to stay at the Crows but half a dozen clubs are offering me huge coin so the Crows need to pony up if they want me to stay"

What like the Melbourne medical team stating that Oliver almost died from the brutal Schofield punch?

Lever also mentioned leaving it until after the season is over......all hope lost.

Crows fans have been here before, even they should understand where this is heading

I heard this morning on SEN this morning that the cats are looking at a trade for Lever which would include Crows getting Motlop and Rhys Stanley.

Certainly don't need Motlop as we have enough of his 'type' of player

Neither does Geelong, and what would you do with Stanley for the 4 games a year that he isn't injured?

The irony of Lever being the bright light for the Crows in the draft, when Dangerfield left for Geelong

Any theories on why the Crows can't keep their players? I would have though playing in front of 50k every 2nd week would have been attractive to most young kids coming here? Or is that a deterrent, in a fish bowl environment it make it very hard on the kids?

I think you'll find the biggest deterrent is these interstate guys are getting paid overs and get to go home to family/friends. Win/win.
Bock and Davis were unique situations with the increased salary caps of GC and GWS at the time. No way we could of matched them. Tippett...lol well we know how that went.
BUT until the Crows decide they need to actually pay marquee players what they need too to get them to stay, it will continue to happen.

The lure of family and friends wins out most times.
And if you're from Melbourne why on earth would you want to live in Adelaide?

We lose young talent though and gain experienced players. Ledger is firmly on the side of losing out IMO.

Yep.
When you hear rubbish like they won't pay Lever $800k a year because that what put him on more than Tex or Sloane then you have issues. If Crows are offering him $600k as being speculated and the Dogs are offering $800k x4 or the Pies $800k x7 then it's really a no brainer for most kids

Wouldn't necessarily think that this is the issue. I know I am a Port fan, but so far we haven't had the issue of losing players interstate and generally keep most players. I'd say its more of a money thing, and in recent times Port represent that by over paying certain players!

The only players that come to mind recently are Chaplin (left cos it was all to hard) & Burgoyne who got shafted when they signed Primus. Before that it was Stevens i reckon?

The Crows have lost players more frequently and at the moment are talked about every 1-2 years in regards to key players leaving
