Christmas Day 2016, how are you spending it?

Postby Spargo » Tue Dec 20, 2016 5:07 pm

Christians, aethiests, bush baptists - come one & come all without fear of discrimination or piss-taking and tell us what you're doing & who with, this Sunday.

The Spargo household is hosting this year, Mum & Dad, my brother and his family for lunch & tea. Pick up the keg Christmas Eve & cook the turkey & pork also in advance. Early rise Christmas Day with two daughters aged 4 & 6 eager to open their presents. With the expected temp hitting 40' we'll spend a good part of the day in the pool. Not having to go anywhere a massive bonus.

We are all Hare Krishna's so take your Xmas Cheer elsewhere!

Nah seriously I'm similar to you.
We are home with our 2 kids(5 & 8 year old) and have my parents and brother and sister's family coming over.
Plenty of food and alcohol to be had!

At home, the Mrs side of the family (about 16) for an arvo lunch.
Neighbours are gonna join us a tad later in the arvo.

What is in the keg is the most important part!
Better be a decent drop

Will be 40 degrees, as long as the beer is cold I wouldn't care if it was West End!

Ice cold west end from a keg is sensational!
Not keen on it from a can though.

I only just saw the forecast.... well we have about 16 for lunch, which is small. Most years its 20+. I will get the weber fired up early in the day, so that by midday - the lid comes off the 1st beer. Prawns to warm up, then roast (chicken, leg of lamb) along with turkey and every bloody vegetable you can imagine. Everyone brings something so it kind of works for us. I only do a lamb on the weber..... I draw the line there. A sneaky bottle or 2 of red.... and asleep on the lounge by 7.30pm. Boxing day tradition is to watch the 1st session of play, from the MCG in bed..... that is a given. Outside chance of a "wellington"....if I play my cards right!

The arvo plan has been shelved due to the weather, so now it will be an evening affair.

Just read the SA Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 https://www.legislation.sa.gov.au/LZ/C/A/FIRE%20AND%20EMERGENCY%20SERVICES%20ACT%202005/CURRENT/2005.40.UN.PDF

Section 80 says Total Fire bans apply to fires in the open air.

My plan, clear the cars out out of the garage that is UMR shut the garage doors and cook in a closed environment - if a Total Fire Ban day is declared in the Metropolitan area.

Our 2 x 2 kg smoked Turkey Breast rolls should come out* nicely
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Best mates place for Christmas brekky - a 20+ year tradition, started when her kids where 1 and 3 respectively, now they've grown and flown the coop, so we just sit around eating penguin waffles and champagne

Nanna's for lunch for seafood....lots and lots of seafood =P~

Given the weather forecast, I'm very happy to forego visiting other friends for dinner and do this instead:

or I would - but I don't own a pool, or a police hat

Having the big family lunch on Xmas eve, Xmas day is reserved for a session with mates.
Both at our place so don't have to leave the air con or worry about a designated driver. :D
