Don't you get a 30 day guarantee with a dealer?
You'd get jacksh*t if it was private.

A dealer has to sell a vehicle in a "Roadworthy" condition.

A cracked head is not a roadworthiness issue.

This is from the RAA website

"Vehicles that are sold for less than $3000, have travelled more than 200,000 kilometres or were first registered more than 15 years ago are not covered by a warranty even when purchased from a dealer."

Have you contacted the dealer?

If the dealer mislead you in any way then you may also have some recourse against them.

Yep, play Mr Nice Guy to begin with and then tell them how important you are if that doesn't work.

I'd be of the assumption that they'd fix it.

I'd approach them in a civil manner, tell them you'd like to resolve the matter in a cordial manner.

If that fails, I'd be off to the Fair Trade Ombudsman and be naming and shaming.

We're talking about used car salesmen here, not people with morals or an ethical bone in their body.

You shouldn't really name and shame if it was an honest mistake, or could it have happened since the car was bought?

How quickly does a cracked head kill the car? Is it instantly f**ked?

That's possible as some dealers barely wash the cars that are traded in before putting them on the market let alone checking them mechanically.

What I mean is, could the head have cracked within the four weeks after purchase? And could you drive a car for four weeks with a cracked head?

I dont know shit. I'm just asking.
