Nah it was good presser for someone who is going to appeal (which he didn't say but it is obvious by what he said that is what he going to do IMO).

Say you're sorry then say nothing else that will prejudice or inform the appeals board (CAS) of what his line of appeal would be.

In cricketing terms Warner went out and tried to play a straight bat to all the questions and he played and missed every ball (question) and looked (sounded) silly but he didn't nick one so he's still not out and is still there to face the next over (appeals board)

It upsets all the journos and keyboard warriors like us who want instant gratification/information on what occurred but the reality is a process needs to be followed before the truth fully comes out (if it ever does).

You mob all need to develop some patience.

Good shout AM

What are your thoughts on the appeal? Even if an appeal reduces the suspension will CA select the players

Do CA have the ability to seek financial compensation for lose of income from the torn up Magellan contract.

Not being privy to the actual evidence other than what's in the media but taking the ACAs statement on the sanctions into the matter in particular:

• The disproportionally between the proposed sanctions and those previously handed down in world cricket for 'changing the condition of the ball' - including by Captains of international teams applying artificial substances;

• The activation of CA's Board as a deliberative body on the proposed sanctions;

• The rush to place players before the world's media last Saturday night without the benefit of considered and coherent advice.

The last one in particular will be helpful for both Bancroft and Smith. What advice were they given prior to facing the media, given one of the charges was that they lied (tape v sandpaper). Did they have a debrief about what to say from the media advisor on tour given the presser was delayed by over an hour: "OK what questions can we expect?" "How can we explain this?"

I can see the sanctions being reduced for both Smith and Bancroft but Warner I'm not sure about. it depends on the corroborating evidence that we aren't privy too and neither should we.

I can also see Smith being selected again as soon as he becomes available. Bancroft will have to fight his way back from further in the queue. Warner I can't see playing test cricket ever again, one-dayers unlikely unless our top order is utter crap in the lead up to the World Cup in June next year. I can see him being limited to T20s only if he is ever selected again which may not even occur if his file gets marked NTBSA

If it does get reduced what chance CA look for compensation for loss of income etc especially in regards to the Magellan contract

F**k all these c**t's bagging Chadd, especially Shane Warne. Even Graeme Smith suggesting that Mitch Marsh could perform the roll Chadd is doing. Marsh doesn't have the skills and disciple to do it. He is bowling an excellent line and length, it's a pity this pitch is a road. Sayers has come into this team and doesn't appear to be overawed by the occasion, he is just doing his job and doing it well. You wouldn't see the debutant bowling the most overs on an innings too many times.

Warne tried to back track in his first commentary stint today.

FFS he bowled 26 overs on a road and took 2 for 60 odd.

Sayers has bowled a hell of a lot better than 2/75. Will never be a walk up start at this level but in the right conditions can be damaging, a modern day Adam Dale.

So refreshing to see Test cricket played in good spirit for a change.
Would be great for it to stay that way in the future but we all know that wont happen tho one can hope.
The ICC could make it happen but they are Pathetic in everything they do.

Hard on the three lads coming in when they havent had any time to adjust to conditions and bowlers. Especially when it is arguable that they are up to the job in the first place. No century maker in this line up. Paine is our best bat... should bat six ahead of Mitch who has headed south since the first test.
Sayers is just honest at best folks... and dont even think about comparing him to philander.

He's having a crack though and doing the best with his ability. Kudos to him for getting two wickets and having the seam standing higher than a honeymooners d!ck on most occasions BUT you can see he just lacks that 2-3% that's needed at that level to cut it. You could see Amla, Markram, AB (until he got out) and others at times playing him off the pitch as they adjusted to what he was doing which is what good test players do to bowlers who average 125 km/h that good Shield players cant.

As Daisey said he will be handy in England in 2019 but we are in for a tough period if he is one of our regulars.

No matter what though he's now #452, it can never be taken away from him and he'll forever have at least two test wickets more than us Muppets on here.

Sayers probably unlucky not to pick up a 3rd or 4th wicket however he lacked his normal zip. It harsh to judge him off one game as many would have said the same after his first ss game. He is crafty guy who was just keeping to basics as he has not bowled competitively for about 3 months. This pitch has been flat but the Aussie’s have dangled there bat a lot where the South African’s were watchful and not playing loose shots.
