I was fortunate enough to be at the Davis cup final in Melbourne in 1987, Australia v Sweden.

Pat Cash played Mickael Pernfors in a match that ultimately decided the tie. Pernfors played unbelievably in the first 2 sets, he got to some balls that i still to this day dont know how he got to, he was inspired. He was 2 sets up, but then Cash came back to claim the next 3 sets in an unbelievable effort. It truly was an inspiring performance from someone who isn't always given the credit he deserves as far as his input into Australian tenns is concerned.

Doug Walters hitting a 6 off the last ball of the day in Perth against England
and scoring a 100 in that session.

Barry Breens point in the 1966 grand final SK V CO.

And would love to have been there in 1948 when Eric Hollies bowled Don
Bradman in his last test match.

That run out for the tied test in 1960 AU V WI would have been nice to see.

I would say there has been Thousands but none better than on Saturday when a horse in his last race got up and won. Coorong gave me the tip on FOO and i didn't back him why because when i back a horse they never win. But to come from last leading into the last straight and win is truely memorable.
Also who can forget Ej's last lap of the MCG with Ted Jr. by his dad's side and when Knuckles embraced EJ just seeing that footage still gives me goosebumbs no-wonder Victoria smashed SA that day. I want SOO brought back just leave it Viccy Vs. SA and make it every Second year ppl will support it.

1) Australia winning Americas Cup in 1983
2) Cathy Freeman winning the 400m at the 2000 Olympics.
3) Steve Waugh's 100 hitting that 4 off the last ball.
4) Ricky Stuart's try in the UK to tie the 2nd test in the Rugby League which kept the series alive, took it to 10 all and we went on to win 14-10 with a late Mal Meninga try, were down and out before Ricky's intercept.

If I thought about it I'd probably put a few others in there but they're the ones off the top of my head that sent the hairs on my neck up.

The Cox Plate is my favourite race of the year but I must admit the result on Saturday did nothing for me, if anything it just showed the lack of a champion in the race (another race over the same distance for mares on the same day ran the same distance quicker).
I know its amazing that a 9yo won it but ho hum field IMHO.
I rate the following winners races as higher than this years (and these are just one's in my memory):
Kingston Town
Bone Crusher
Better Loosen Up
Super Impose (amazing run that I've never seen anything like since)
Octagonal
Saintly
Might and Power
Sunline
Northerley
Makybe Diva

My entire knowledge of this horse in this race is based on the song "The 1992 W.S. Cox Plate" by Mr. Floppy.

Super! I think Super Impose can etch her name on the Cox Plate!"

Damien Olivers win on Media Puzzle in the melbourne cup, just a few days after his brother died in a race fall was somewhat 'special'.

Aussies beating SA in world cup semi final in england was great too!
