Obesity becoming a disability. The number of obese people riding scooters and getting disabled parking permits is a disgrace.

Maybe some of these "obese" members of our community have a genuine disability which allows them to use these parks.

Fatties should indeed qualify for special parking.

However unlike disabled parking, their parks should be as far away from the shop entrance as possible. Force a little bit of incidental exercise into 'em I say...

Yes that's a big possibility and fair enough but I just think people need to remember being fat is not a disability, you don't deserve benefits that disabled people get such as disabled car parks because your fat and not actually disabled in any form.

I'm skipping the scooter and going straight to the gopher.
Park anywhere anytime, apparently everyone has to give way to you and being ignorant & obnoxious is par for course when driving one of these bad boys. I'll also be adjusting the speed limit device on my new mode of transport.

I'd suggest the number of obese people with a legitimate disability would be very low, all you have to do is look at people shopping trolleys and its pretty obvious they just eat junk 24/7.

I agree that is generally true about what is seen in people's shopping trolleys.

Some of the plump people I know diet episodically but maintain their sweet tooth because that still like the taste and use artificial sweeteners instead of retraining their palate to less sweet expectations . However, some do have bone and joint issues that inhibit reasonable exercise, or endocrine problems like marginal hypothyroidism, or high Prolactin levels for various reasons. (Endocrinology can be complex.)

I'd have to admit to a certain laziness being a factor in my tendency to be a bit heavier than ideal, but on the bright side I'm not semi-crippled by joint damage from excessive wear and tear either...

However, I do do things like park a little farther back and walk further rather than pay to park right where I want to go.

This also works in the opposite, ie. why buy a small coke when a large one is only 50c more...same with icecream/drink/chips etc.

If the figures are correct:

The state government have written off over 100 million worth of unpaid fines, with the total write-offs over the past few years almost equaling the cost of the adelaide oval upgrade. One particular person has had over $170,000 worth of fines scrapped.

Precedent has now been set people. Next ticket you get, pay it? not on your life- the government will write it off anyway.

On the other side why pay 50c more than you need to... ;)
