How good would a “Best of” tournament be? 2 Grand finalist from GSFL, BLGFA, HFL D1, SFL and even RMFL in a round robin comp. 2x 20 minute halves.
It'd be brilliant, would sort out bragging rights too! I reckon it'd be as good as the Country Champs, if not better.
I agree. Scrap the country ...

Re: River Murray Football League talk
Good to see the two Mallee teams defeat the two Murray Bridge teams today. Storm got their first win over Ramblers and Suns over Imps. Both games in Murray Bridge.

Re: Yorke Peninsula League
I see Bute and Blyth/Snowtown held a joint pre-season training together to get more locals on the track and therefore a higher quality session. A great idea.

Re: Grade Cricket
Technically 9 teams still in the hunt. Might not be that many actually. Haven't really crunched the numbers.
1 East Torrens 107.5 (West Torrens, Prospect)
2 Woodville 102.5 (Glenelg, Tea Tree Gully)
3 Tea Tree Gully 102.5 (Port Adelaide, Woodville)
4 Sturt 97.5 (Southern District, West Torrens)

Re: Grade Cricket
Thanks Willo.
Wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple of mergers, but will be a stretch to get it down to 10 teams, even though that number would be ideal IMO. Would have thought Northern Districts cover Gawler well enough.
Junior idea has merit, as does the D Grade becoming U19's, as does ...

Re: Grade Cricket
The simplest change that would have the biggest effect would be to have no Sunday cricket. I reckon you'd find players staying in the game longer and therefore the standard would improve. Plus clubs could make more money by having more people back at the club at the same time - not to mention less ...

Re: Grade Cricket
The issue with Sunday cricket is the predominately amateur players not having a life during cricket season. Add One day/T20/PL/SatSun/2nd11 the players have 0 weekends. Some may say, ‘if they are serious about their cricket and want to play FC then they shouldn’t care’, yes that’s true, but ...

Re: Grade Cricket
Season starts Oct 18 with a one-dayer and that will be the only clash with Premier League for the season. Preliminary rounds of the One Day comp morphed in to regular season matches which is a good move. Just the three Sat/Sun matches (played by all Grades), plus One Day QF,SF,GF all played on ...

Re: Grade Cricket
I've always been of the opinion that if a player doesn't want to play at your club then you're better off letting them go. You just need to do your best to provide an environment that they want to play in and have success. It is certainly disappointing when a young promising player leaves after the ...

Location, location, location. Sandwiched between St Michael's and Henley High together with excellent relationship with Yorke Peninsula country zone and of course some excellent people involved with the junior set up gives a formula for success. A long way from the old days at Kings Reserve ...

Re: Grade Cricket
A good game at Henley on the weekend. ND declared overnight at 5/362 with Cosgrove making a century. WT bowled out after 95.2 overs for 358 with Kelvin Smith making 154. Looks like a scorecard from the old Salisbury days in the 90's.

Re: Grade Cricket
Thought I'd have a quick look back at the past 5 seasons to try to measure on field strength.
I looked at how many times a club finished top 4 in A Grade, top 4 in the Club Championship (to measure overall senior strength) and top 4 in juniors (U16R&W, U14R&W) to measure overall junior strength.

Apparently there is a paper on the reasons WT are one of the clubs in the gun which includes that they haven't produced any state players lately.
Ummm... Trent Kelly, Peter George, James Smith, Kelvin Smith
Ahead of several clubs surely
Pretty sure Peter George was the last Test player SA ...

West Torrens have picked a bad year to eat itself from the inside out. Seems to me that they are very well behind the other 2 clubs in the gun. Should be an interesting Grade Cricket committee meeting next month...

SACA Board members have been taken down from website. Soft pricks. Absolute disgrace. No accountability. Come out and tell us why you're destroying a club who would be 160 years old next year.

Rambled a bit but got the point across eventually.
Describing Uni as "a parasite" was a nice touch!
Typical Politician Chest beating for 10 minutes when 5 would have sufficed.......
Could have used the Parasite description for 2 of those 3 clubs involved in this....
Also implies that the West ...
