Re: Grade Cricket

Great to see some teenagers/early 20 something players having an impact on the competition already.

Jordan Thomas from Port - always been handy but stepping up now. Played some PL I think. Kyle Giniotis has some real ability with the bat. Alex Reardon very clean with the gloves. Tom O'Connell and Lloyd Pope two good leggies. Ben Pengelley looks a good batsman. Jake Winter taking the competition by storm. Henry Dall looks a solid opening batsman. Daniel Drew looking good with bat and ball. Spencer Johnson back fully fit.
Jordy (Thomas) has improved out of sight in the last 3 seasons. His bowling, initially has sorta come from nowhere, he was predominantly at batsman in juniors that only bowled a bit. My brother and I and our teammates all know him so we always keep an eye on him. Great to see him get a five wicket haul on the weekend, he continues to impress.

Re: Australian International Summer

Pretty harsh on Ferguson finally getting a call up and dropped after one Test. At least should've given the guy one more chance as it's a dead rubber anyway and would've been playing in his home town in front of all his friends and family. If he fails again okay rule a line through him and go with someone else for the Pakistan series.

Brutal stuff really feel for Ferguson had his very promising ODI career ended by doing his knee and then gets the arse after one solitary Test.
Full agree mate, well said.

It's a case of different rules for different people. Some blokes get numerous chances while a Callum Furguson gets one solitary test match to prove himself. Couldn't of got a worse place to debut either, a raging seamer against a very, very good attack. Yes he should be up to it and that's International cricket but they really threw him in the deep end compared to others who had it alot easier in their first test match. Just a bullshit decision IMO.

Disgusted Maddinson has been selected ahead of Patterson.
All fixed.

Given they went with Renshaw they cant use the hasnt proven himself at Shield level over a couple years excuse.
Also disgusted Wade has been given another chance, im with Jim, he will cost us at least one Test out of the 4 remaining this summer
Another bullshit decision. Nic Maddison is barely a decent 4-day cricketer let alone a test cricketer! In my book he's just a white ball cricketer and that's it.

And while I mentioned on here Wade is a chance coming into the squad if Nevill doesn't make any runs I'm still really surprised he's been selected.

Great for Sayers to get picked, we all know he should of been in the squad eariler on. Pretty disappointing for Mennie though. Just feels like a waste of time selecting and playing him to be honest, same with Ferg.

Michael Clarke talking up Maddinson a fair bit!

Just gonna say the same thing. Seriously going overboard for a bloke that averages only 37.

Any chance of moving his feet trying to defend rather than just stand flat footed and poke at them? Seriously cant believe how poor some of these new age batsmens defensive techniques are?

NZ 4/221. 158 from 74 needed. Williamson 74 (75), batting very nicely, geez he's great to watch.

And f**k me dead, again media people raving about Pat Cummins playing test match cricket. His last first class match was in August last year, his last game for NSW was in the 2011 Shield final. Him playing test cricket any time soon? Please give it a break, just focus on him playing one day cricket without getting injured!

Hahaha, saw this on the news and the news reporter mentioned that people weren't realizing the price until they got fuel. They even interviewed a few people just after filling up and they complained saying the price was a rip off.

Re: Australian International Summer

So this business about picking in form players from the Shield like Hanscomb and Renshaw seems to go ok. Who would have thought?

On Renshaw, still has plenty of work to do and is only 20 of course, but I like what I have seen so far. Yes he has clear issues on a line just on or outside off with a bit of movement. Certainty not alone there in the world of cricket, but at 20 he has the time to work on that. I like his approach to batting and opening. Has a good mindset to be out there for a while. I think with time we will really see this kid develop nicely.
I love Renshaw's temperament for a guy who's only 20. You can't teach that.

Re: Restaurant & Pub Reviews

Barry's Burgers at Semaphore, tried them out for for the first time for lunch today. Very happy with it and will definitely go back there. Wasn't very busy so I waited maybe 10 minutes for my meal.

I had a Baz burger (just their standard burger) and added Bacon and Egg. Also had a side of small Sweet Potato Chips. Burger was pretty good, I'd give it a 7.5/10 while the Sweet Potato chips were the highlight, they were absolutely delicious, 9/10. Could of been 10 if all the chips were crispy, some were a bit soft.

The burger and serve of chips weren't overly big compared to a 127 Days burger and chips and that's a good thing as I haven't felt too full this afternoon after eating it.

He's got good hands at first slip this young bloke, a bit Clem Alderman like.
Along with his batting it's great how Renshaw has contributed in the field in the important position that is first slip, he doesn't look out of place there. Great call by Usman Khawaja who told Steve Smith to place Renshaw at first slip.

Re: Australian International Summer

how has there only been 1 over of spin from the aussies so far?

Plenty of justification coming from the commentators for a very lacklustre aussie performance
Shocking Captaincy from Smith.
Where is the change of pace?
Head and Maxwell should be bowling 10 between them as a bare minimum
Yes it's unusual considering Pakistan bowled 24 overs of spin in Australia's innings out of the 48. 3/98 in those 24 overs, the spinners did a very good job restricting Australia.

Poor Bangladesh, score nearly 600 in the 1st dig and lose

And we're 0-50 in the second dig

Bangladesh's 8-595dec the highest first innings score for a side to go on and then lose the match
It was a poor second innings that lost it for them, only managing 160. They had two batsman retire hurt though with captain Mushfiqur Rahim copping a blow to the head from a Tim Southee bouncer and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Kane Williamson led the Kiwi's home with his 15th test century.

Technique, skill, brains, work rate this innings had it all
Well done Oil!! He was an interesting selection given his form this season but great for him to grab his opportunity and capitalize on it.

I honestly can't see Mitch Marsh playing this kind of innings in this kind of situation, he'd be well out by now. In the past when Australia has been in strife like today he has consistently failed when given time in the middle after the top order were dismissed cheaply.

Re: Australian International Summer

Stonis 650 Shield runs last year at 38, this season 87 at 14.

Bet he's spewin' that he hadn't made runs this year as he'd be #451 not Cartwright.
Yep! Stonis is a better cricketer than Cartwright, Cartwright was just in better form at the time of his selection.

Now that he's showed us he can perform at the top level I hope Stonis can continue to be a handy contributor to the ODI side therefore it'll keep Mitch Marsh out and Marsh actually has to perform in state cricket if he is to get back into the team.

Re: Ch9AFL Division 1 - 2017

Just something I heard yesterday at work but I'm hearing Salisbury nth are in a bit of trouble. Apparently couple of there recruits have left already as not happy with numbers on the track. More than likely just gossip but the source that told me his wife was the recently appointed head trainer there and she has already left As her son was one of the new recruits and his gone back to Kilburn. For the hawks sake hope it all works out..
Heard the same early last week so it must be gaining some traction. Like you mate i hope its not the case. Div 1 is much stronger with SN in it. The same with any grade. If as a club you have committed to filling a side/s and to have the types of numbers i'm hearing, its pretty disappointing for SN coaches and committee. Hopefully they can regroup ad do it quickly. Not much time left. I know the usual rumor and innuendo will come out as to why but there's a lot of good people out there and a friend is out there so i hope they can get it all sorted. And that's IF it is 100% true. Haven't spoken to him yet.
I heard they had 9 players at training last Tuesday night, which includes the lad who has pulled the pin and going back to Kilburn.
Wasn't the only one. Howden back to North Haven as well I'm hearing.
Yes to my surprise Jack trained with us on Thursday. I was talking to him about this, he said they have barely anyone on the track as blokes have either left or are not interested in playing. From the outside and not knowing much about SN it seems a bit bizarre that this can just happen all of a sudden as I've always considered them to be a strong, healthy club.

I was just thinking about the sweeping option but the length that Ashwin is bowling here, just back of a good length is perfect for him and makes it near-on impossible for the batsman to get down and sweep him effectively.
