Re: Sooo.... what didya get?

Thanks MW,
I might have to give up the netball, too much stress on the old ticker mightn't be any good for me :D :D

I'm a bit concerned though, I had an MRI done recently & the cardio has rung me and asked me to go and visit him tomorrow.
Might need a pacemaker methinks.
We will see.

 yeah leave the netball stress alone mate!
Fingers crossed mate, but from what I hear pacemakers are relatively standard procedures these days. You'll be fine.

As predicted, heart is cactus, need a defibrilator fitted , plus early stages of chronic artery disease.
Big lifestyle changes now, oh well, could be worse hey!

Hopefully it will be smaller than the one on our changerooms wall or you'll look like Jayne Mansfield

Jokes aside, you get one life - time to concentrate on doing the best for your health - Good luck

What will SA Footy members be watching tonight? :)

A- MAFS
B- Australian Idol
C- Australian Cricket Awards (Allan Border Medal)
D- Australian Survivor
E- The Last of Us (TV series adaptation of the Playstation game)
F- Something else

I'll be watching E while flicking between A and C on in the background.

C

I know Warner will win the Border Medal, TPOTY, ODPOTY and batting trophy + Community Impact Award

Some things are claimable as annual expenses against your revenue - others to do with buying / selling are a capital expense so you can deduct from the CGT when selling (ie) conveyancing, agent selling fees etc.

Re: AFL in Tasmania

Amazing the Federal Govt has no money to spend but can stump up $240m for the oval
Are there some important votes in Tasmania?

Only blue bloods keeping the Libs alive.

That explains it then Tasmania is very politically competitive, but in the three northern/central Tassie electorates, not in the two in the Hobart area, so I'm not sure there is that much of an electoral incentive to pour money into a Hobart stadium.

The North v South is a bigger problem
I used to manage one of their biggest entities because it had both north and south representatives on the Board and it was better for them that an SA person was managing it

I didn't tell them my mother was from Burnie...............

Re: 2023 Adelaide Footy League - Division 2

In this age of generic but significant club room redevelopment there’s something really nice about north haven and footy how you watched it for decades.

Aside from that a miserable choppy game I like your sentiment Jo but for me who has seen the place 3-5 times a week over the past 15 years it's time for a major renovation/upgrade. The clubs/committees have worked hard to keep the place together with a fair bit of work/renovations themselves to maintain and keep it in a satisfactory condition but ultimately the place is falling apart and it's time for the council/government to come to the party, although from what I understand we are not eligible for any upgrades at this point in time.
How come you aren't eligible at the moment
I could be wrong now but from what I understand the club was still one or two years away from being eligible according to the council (unless that has changed recently). The club did get a grant from the Labor state government for Women's changerooms (which apparently the council were going to match) but nothing has come of that yet. The club has had plans drawn up for both women's changerooms and the whole building in the past but again nothing has come of that.

They have to build the Taj Mahal up the road first

Re: 2023 Adelaide footy League - Division 6

On a side note, was thinking the other week, it's always tough in our North-East area near Ingle Farm with so many clubs, but this year it's great to see doing well this year - Golden Grove top of D2, Hope Valley top of D3 and Modbury 3rd, Pooraka top of D4, Gepps Cross top of D5 and Kilburn 2nd, Greenacres top of D6, Para Hills top of D7 and Ingle Farm 2nd.

I can't recall a time when all these clubs were at the top of the tree in their respective divisions at the same time.

I have always grouped these clubs into the same "inner north" area:
Kilburn
Gaza
Greenacres
Broadview
Gepps Cross
PNU
Walkerville

All apart from Gepps Cross (EFA) have been A1/D1 powerhouses at some stage
For 30 years, the top 4 swapped players like a Glenelg Vice Presidents party
PNU and Walkerville have always had their own type of players and massive junior programmes

Personal view - I dont think the "Inner North" region has the population to support that many clubs.

Excuse me. We won the 1950 and 1953 A1 flags ;)

My bad - sorry

That's 2 more than Gepps X and one more than Gaza!

Re: Ashes 2023

If Carey was keeping up would he have left the crease?
No?
Why Not?
BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN STUMPED.

I have sympathy both ways here.
The fact he kept in the crease, scratched guard, then left leans me towards it being the wrong decision. If he ducked the bouncer, looked around and walked out to pressure a run, then fair game.

If you look closely, he actually taps the ground with his bat IMO effectively stating "crease" hence why he walked off.
He did it every time he went for a stroll
I watched him at the time and thought he had done the right thing by tapping the ground

On the Starc "catch", I was always taught dont let the ball go anywhere near the grass after you've caught it.
At the time, I thought he could be in trouble with what he did

But I dont, religiously, read the rules

I just watched it again. I’m wrong - this time he didn’t tap down
#### him - he’s out

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts

Refinancing the home loan.

Jesus just went through this.

Came off fixed term, so be it. NAB's variable rate was extortionate, shopped around.

Westpac offered 2% less and $5k cashback.

Took this to NAB and said I'll eat the $5k to save on the paperwork if they could match the rate. They declined to do so.

The level of ******* around has been immense.

I bet NAB rang back later and tried to match

I was with Citi and they have gone to shite since NAB took over so I have moved to ING and credit card to HSBC (frequent flyer points the only consideration)

NAB "Retention" just called me wanting to match and $4k cashback (so they are still offering them)
I had great pleasure in telling them I have no idea what rate I am paying with the new bank. I just dont want to be with NAB

Getting a credit card is getting difficult again

That Liberty on Marion Rd is saving our prices down South, they dont budge when the others put their prices up and they end up having to drop theirs down or get no business, its fantastic to see.

Almost every other industry needs to explain why prices go up except the petrol industry, complete manipulation.

This is why we banned OTR

Re: Great Southern Football League

What's happening at McLaren. They appeared unbeatable until the last few matches.

Won their 1st 10 matches of the season tho they certainly didn't look unbeatable as they scraped home in a few of them . Copped a few injuries i believe including Ellis who has missed the last few games and that's all it takes to struggle to win games with the comp being so even. They play the 3 bottom teams in the last 3 rounds so should finish top although E Bay in Rd 17 is certainly no certainty at all going on form atm.

I was at McLaren on Saturday
McLaren were missing their midfield - Also too short for VH
VH were very good though - some weapons in the forward lines

Re: Frequent Flyer Points

Qantas are shite
They may be part of One World but try to get a flight with another airline

Dont get a Qantas or Virgin card. Get a card with several airlines that you can transfer to.

Get an AMEX and a visa/mastercard with someone else - look at this one: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/credit-cards/citibank-prestige-card-guide/

Here you go Trader: everything you need in one website although there are plenty of others: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/

Also look at a payment system for those bills that cant use AMEX: pay.com.au or Sniip. Sniip only does BPay accounts though - pay.com.au does all bills other than gambling etc

I am currently doing a comparison spreadsheet which I'll send to you when finalised
