Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Nice OnSong , $4.40 boosted.
Great price I could only get $4.20 this morning with a bet return. Wish I had the confidence to take the $4.80 last night but happy all the same. Will win more races I reckon. Might also blackbook third from that trial as they all finished in a clump. EDIT: I see third from that trial was Humming which won at Moe a few days ago. Geez. Follow.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Morning lads.

I have a real speculator tomorrow at Goulburn that I’ll be watching closely. Goulburn R6 10 Diamond Flyer is at $41 and $9.50 the place. I don’t necessarily think it’s a strong winning chance but it ran a solid 3 lengths third behind a dominant Whiskey Wisdom which lines up at Randwick on Saturday.

I can see 4 starters with more claims than Diamond Flyer but a reasonable draw and coming onto good ground I think puts it in the place frame a lot more than a $41 shot. And this is a provincial maiden. Worth a little 1x3 dabble IMO.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Wednesday Sandown R7 - 6 Bold Bourbon. Ran a terrific and tough 3rd in Saturday grade at Mooney Valley last start. Came out of a strong race at Sandown the run prior with Marcolt winning that. Marcolt then ran a lip second in that same Saturday race at MV behind Fighting Arrows. 5th from that race, Liberated Girl, went and pantsed them at Mooney Valley on Friday night. Anyway, Bold Bourbon appears tactically versatile as it can run either on pace or back in the field. Went up at $14. Into $12 and I'll be staggered if it doesn't jump single figures.
Into $10. Still seems a fair price.

I don't mind the price around 7 The Claimant either as it drifts out. The blinkers went on last start and it just would not settle so they come OFF again for this race. One to watch.
Oooffff that sucks.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Sorry if this is a bit of overload but here we go.

TODAY:

Pakenham R1 5 Sewn $51/$9.50 - I had this one in the blackbook after a luckless run 3rd up at Kyneton but it was beaten 2 lengths 6th after getting way too far back first up last time over the 1000m. Carleen Hefel on board and while I'm not sold on her, I do think she's an improving jockey and can get them into the placings at big odds. Comes out of the same jumpout as My Haruconi ($7) which is labelled as an average jumpout but I don't often place a lot of faith in jumpouts. What we do know is last prep it could have finished a lot closer in 2/3 starts and the other one was on a Mornington minefield. Worth a spec and a watch.

Pakenham R8 4 Russian Dancer $2.10 - Did its best work late last start. Long Pakenham straight and if the Zac Spain can give it every chance, I think it just wins this. I've seen Zac butcher a few over the journey so tread carefully with bet returns etc.

FRIDAY:

Quirindi R4 4 Keroessa $6/$2 - Wouldn't mind a bit more beef in the price so watch that closer to jump but I thought its last run at Muswellbrook was strong. Andrew Gibbons has the steer from the Kris Lees stable so I think third up here puts it in the frame.

Quirindi R7 6 Red Beryl $6/$2 - I love this horse and it's had a magical preparation finishing a rattling 4th in the Inverell Cup, winning the Tamworth Cup and 3rd in the Walcha Cup on a day that suited the onspeed runners with a tiny straight. It says 300m but it feels shorter than that. Quirindi has a 400m straight so this suits Red Beryl. No doubt there's some good horses in this race but all three runs this preparation have been strong and a repeat effort sees it go close again. One knock - Kelsey Lenton off and Braith Nock is on. I don't know much about this lad and Lenton had done the steering so far brilliantly. Wouldn't mind a bit more beef in the price either.

SATURDAY:

Rosehill R2 18 The Fossil $34/$7 - Had a lean time of it last prep but it's clicked into gear lately with a barnstorming run over Reateros at Taree. I was mostly on Reatoros that day as it showed ability behind Sir Ravenelli which won the Tuncurry Cup on Sunday. Grew wings late to almost pinch it at Newcastle on Monday and that sort of finishing sectional puts it in the frame at Rosehill this weekend. Has won at this track and distance previously and has shown enough form in the country to possibly catch them napping this weekend if it gets a start.

Good luck

Morning team. Happy Quirindi Cup Day! Add to the above:

Wodonga R1 3 Testing The Cugat $9.50/$3.8 - Comes out of a reasonable form race after running third behind More Saturday's and Rhonda Vous, which came out and won its next start. Not super keen but just backing it small EW (NTD) on that previous run.

Wodonga R2 10 St Malo $11/$2.40 - Got $23 last night and it seems the market has climbed into it. Personally I wouldn't be keen on taking anything less than $15 but as per Alice Downs, 3WNC and didn't handle the heavy at Kyneton. I followed it from its meritorious 4th on debut over 1100m and with Riordan back in the saddle and a decent barrier draw, it can figure here. Does get back though so not leaping into it.

Wodonga R3 6 Alice Downs $5/$1.60 - Caught 3WNC and didn't handle the heavy at Kyneton but two runs prior were excellent and think it can figure here.

Wodonga R4 11 Elderslie $2.15 - Was disappointing on debut after being well backed but did its best work late and steps out in trip to the 1300m. Barrier 3 surely means it gets the run of the race so this should be on the animal and punters appear to have backed up again.

Wodonga R6 7 Go Jazz $13/4.80 - Honestly I don't think this race is that deep and having been within a length of victory in two starts before striking the heavy ground at Kyneton (as per St Malo and Alice Downs), a 1/1 record at the track and distance and coming from barrier 1 it presents as some value EW.

Wodonga R7 2 Euphemia $2.60 - Stays in the same class, track and distance as its last start win which looked dominant, particularly over the closing stages. Think the form around it is solid enough.

Wodonga R9 4 Sellente $4 - I absolutely piled into Lake Tai at $2.80 last start at this track after coming back in class and destroying the field. Ended up paying $1.60 on the tote and murdered them but 4L away working home well as Sellente, which goes out in distance and isn't coming up against a Lake Tai.

Quirindi R2 12 Bijara $4.20 - A string of second placings going into this and after rattling home late from barrier 11 last start, a better barrier today surely puts it into the frame.

Quirindi R3 1 Bill Peyto $6/$2.10 - Lenton has booted it home for a win and a close up third (short straight at Walcha) and I think from that barrier she should have it in the finish again. Quite like this trainer/jockey combo too.

Quirindi R6 7 Bull In A China Shop $6/2.20 - Ran great time over the 1000m in the same class and retains the same jockey from that victory. Wider barrier but it's a get back run on type. Not piling in but think it measures up here.

Wagga R7 6 Mo Chara $3 - Led and creamed them in its maiden run but what gives me further confidence in this race is the horse that ran almost 3L second came out and smoked them in two subsequent BM58s, much stiffer company than what they faced that day.

Now we pray to Jesus. Gamble responsibly.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Morning all.

Only a handful of runners I have any interest in today.

Armidale R4 2 Sure Strategy $5 - Two starts at the track and distance for two second placings. I'm finding Camille Houlgate to be an improving apprentice jockey since coming back from injury and from 8 rides on this horse, she's got a win and three second placings. Interestingly, Ballybrack beat Sure Strategy two starts back and currently displays odds of $12 so that's worth a spec too. You can probably get $2 the place for Sure Strategy so maybe that's where the value is in this extremely consistent galloper.

Armidale R6 4 Zalini $3.70 - I thought its effort at Walcha was pretty solid coming from barrier 11 and was probably looking for that extra 100m, which it finds today. Has the same rider from a better barrier and can be ridden midfield or on speed. Back in grade from a C2 to a C1 and placed in a BM58 the start prior, which, I believe, tends to line up stronger than a C1. Comes up against Xeiby ($2.20) which won on debut but I'm hoping it will find this harder than those it beat in that maiden race and comes from barrier 11 today.

*Same race I'm having a small spec on 15 Ringo's Charm. It's my daughter's nickname and ran an ok second in a trial behind a horse that went on to run a 4th in a BM64 at Hawkesbury. Has no first up form whatsoever so it's more of an omen bet but I'd kick myself if it won and I had nothing on it.

Armidale R7 3 Spanish Missile $4.40 - Seems to be value chasing a hattrick of wins. Has a great barrier, early speed, should be fit enough and gets a senior rider as opposed to the favourite, Timely Bel, which has the claiming apprentice on board. The horse Timely Bel just beat last start (Indian Thunder) lines up earlier on the card and could be a decent form reference but happy to be with SM all the same.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Right, let's get into some tips for today and build a bank for tomorrow. (I hope)

Port Lincoln R2: 4 Inotell ($3.20) - Solid placing last time out alongside Pocket Raider, which went within a bee's phallus on Wednesday at Balaklava so that form lines up. Loving Alana Livesey's lately so the wide barrier doesn't worry me too much.

Newcastle R1: 2 Don Quixote ($2.10) - Been on it all of its last three runs and it hasn't missed a placing. Should find it easier today and thus the short quote. Consistent enough and worthy of a good bet supported by a bet return voucher if you've got them.

Newcaste R7: 13 The Fossil ($7) - Hopelessly held up in the straight at Rosehill in Saturday company and didn't finish too far off them. Gets back but rattles home and early market support has seen it drop in price from $10 to about $7 this morning.

Ararat R8: 4 Bold Bourbon ($2.50) - Oooh boy it's drawn the car park again but can't knock its recent runs faced with similar challenges on metro tracks. Back in class here and thus the shorter price. Tough as nails and will give everything with your money on it.

NOTE: Don Quixote defeated Good Vintage three starts back. 9 Good Vintage lines up at Hawkesbury R4 tomorrow (Saturday) and is currently showing $8. Think it's a good chance in that, while stablemate 14 Ahead Of The Game $26) is in the same race and a top 4 chance for your exotics.

Re: BEST JOKES - Warning: Site Rules Still Apply

A duck walks into a pub and orders a pint of beer and a ham sandwich.

The bartender looks at him and says, "Hang on! You're a duck."

"I see your eyes are working," replies the duck.

"And you can talk!" exclaims the bartender.

"I see your ears are working, too," says the duck. "Now if you don't mind, can I have my beer and my sandwich please?"

"Certainly, sorry about that" says the bartender as he pours the duck a pint. "It's just we don't get many ducks in this pub. What are you doing around this way?"

"I'm working on the building site across the road," explains the duck. "I'm a plasterer."

The flabbergasted bartender cannot believe the duck and wants to learn more, but takes the hint when the duck pulls out a newspaper from his bag and proceeds to read it.

So, the duck reads his paper, drinks his beer, eats his sandwich, bids the barman good day and leaves.

The same thing happens for two weeks.

Then one day the circus comes to town.

The ringmaster comes into the pub for a pint and the bartender says to him:

"You're with the circus, aren't you? Well, I know this duck that could be just brilliant in your circus. He talks, drinks beer, eats sandwiches, reads the newspaper and everything!"

"Sounds marvelous," says the ringmaster, handing over his business card. "Get him to give me a call."

So the next day when the duck comes into the pub the bartender says, "Hey Mr. Duck, I reckon I can line you up with a top job, paying really good money."

"I'm always looking for the next job," says the duck. "Where is it?"

"At the circus," says the bartender.

"The circus?" repeats the duck.

"That's right," replies the bartender.

"The circus?" the duck asks again. "With the big TENT?"

"Yeah!" the bartender replies.

"With all the animals who live in CAGES, and performers who live in CARAVANS?" says the duck.

"Of course," the bartender replies.

"And the tent has CANVAS sides and a big canvas roof with a hole in the middle?" persists the duck.

"That's right!" says the bartender.

The duck shakes his head in amazement, and says: "What the f..k would they want with a plasterer???"

Getting out to a backable price this morning and don't mind the drift. Got back in traffic last start and was terrific the start prior at Kyneton.

Becoming quite fond of Carleen Hefel and she stays on board here. Hoping for a settling position off pace or midfield, bit of pressure up front, should be right there in the finish.

The call in the last from McAullay was fantastic! It was spine tingling, just like Chataqua's run called by Flindell in Sydney.

He’s an outstanding race caller, McCauley & Matt Hill are two of the best I’ve heard.

Must say, I like Flindell too.
1) Hill
2) Daylight
3) McAullay
4) Flindell

In SA, actually rate Tim Edwards in front of Davis.
In Qld, Josh Fleming

Newish bloke calling Horsham yesterday, Dayne Barry, I thought he was terrific. SA should poach him.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Back at work and back on the punt. I have had a large-ish bet on Taree R7 1 Imatruestar. Back in class significantly from Saturday Highway grade, had a ******* shocker from the apprentice last start in a big field but before that was running good races in big fields. Due for some luck and a field of 9 in a midweek meet at Taree. Heavy track is a query but we get Koby Jennings aboard. I took $3.20 the place and boosted the win to $11. Has to run top 3 unless something goes amiss and should be winning considering its class and recent form. If you read the stewards comments last 5 starts it’s had issues finding clear air. Clearly there’s reasons why the stable has taken it from Randwick to Taree and that’s to collect a cheque. Should be jumping $4 in my opinion.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Gatton R5 - 13 Daytona Gal

Followed this runner since an eye-catching run over the 1500m at Hawkesbury last year while with the Widdup stable. Has since changed stables and states, stepping out 1st up over the 800m at Warwick where it ran less than 3 lengths 4th travelling 15 wide the trip from barrier 10. Up to 1100m, which is still a tad short for my liking but retains the 3kg claiming apprentice and gets gate 5. Actually stepped midfield last start so if the youngster can settle her midfield/off speed Daytona Gal has a nice turn of foot to hopefully be in the finish. I took $6.50 early doors, drifted to $8 but back to the $5-$5.50 mark now. I can't see it getting much shorter, wouldn't take less than $6 and the apprentice rider over 1100m are queries for mine so tread carefully.

Gatton R6 - 9 Les Girls

Pleased with the 1st up run 3rd in 0-58 company at Sunny Coast, won its next start at some non-TAB meet, retains Karl Zechner in the saddle and steps out today in a 0-55 over the 1100m from gate 5. About $5.50 available and should be in the finish.

Stony Creek R8 #10 Peppino. Track and trip it’s 3 starts for 3 wins. Teo Nugent nearly had him winning over 1700m two runs back, was a solid effort from the back in a tougher Pakenham hitout last run and is primed to get the choccies today. Getting $11-$12 now. Sandown R5 #7 Mr Trafficanti. Was on last start at Flemington where it loomed into the race strongly but was held up for most of the straight. Also struck interference the race prior. Sandown's long straight suits, stays at the 1600m, Blake Shinn on board is a plus. Took $6 yesterday, into $4.80 this morning.

Belmont R7 #2 Starcienne. Quite taken by this mare who gets back and storms home. Stunning prep this time last year winning 4 on the bounce. Lean patch from March to September but appears to have returned in that customary condition with a brilliant first up win at Belmont on January 10. Retains Jordan Turner in the saddle from that win, steps up to 1400m with a solid record over the track and trip. $4.80 is a fair price IMO. Keen on it winning but based on the first up run, should be top 3 today and giving this a good shake.

Warwick R6 - 12 Daytona Gal
Back in today after the abandoned Gatton meet. I'd like a track with a longer straight but has effectively drawn barrier 7 and tends to settle rearward. Shopping around the $6.50 mark. Each way claims. Taken $7 earlier today.

Warwick R7 - 9 Too Much Makeup

Short enough as second favourite at $3.70 but two runs this prep have been promising and should be in the finish here on those two efforts.

Hasn’t been a run on track recently

I’d be watching the first few races before having a bet
I'm on.
Pretty balanced field with at least 3 other runners who prefer to settle rearward.
First run in Australia was Lakeside in December over the 1400m and made up plenty of ground from a car park draw.
2nd up lame.
3rd up runs a brilliant 2nd in a huge Saturday metro field from the car park draw again.
Today, back to midweek class, smaller field, better barrier, more ground, should be rock hard fit.
If the track is against me today, so be it. That's punting. Good luck MT!

I don't think it's as good as Hopwood's (tips) but seems to have some followers so....let's hope she doesn't starve any more horses doing it.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Anyone else take NZ Trial Watcher's $251 tip at Werribee today? Race 2 #11

I got on $5 each way at $151. Cash out offer is $23 as it's into $31. Gonna let it ride :)

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

Benalla R4 #7 Expeetee - Short enough at $2.20 but has shown form at the track this prep and was stiff to not finish closer at Caulfield Heath last start. Wide draw but tends to snag back and has a good turn of foot. Early market support too. Not sure I'd be keen on anything less than even money.

Benalla R8 #6 Strangeless - Liking the each way price available for this runner, which I thought was terrific last start at Cranbourne behind the likes of Scorsese and Toronluca (another one I've blackbooked - probably runs Friday night). Good draw from 4, back in class against her own sex, really sharp last 100m so if it's anywhere near them in the run - look out.

Re: Horse Racing Tips & Discussion

After yesterday's dis-arse-ter at Benalla (grrrrr) I'm buttering up today with some prayers to the punting gods.

Gawler R2 #6 Covert Witness

Sandown R6 #11 Mantua

Warwick Farm R6 #9 The Replicant

Good luck all.
