Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

sat morning

1st group off the 10th

first tee shot was a glorious baby draw
no idea where that came from.
outside of that a handy little flop shot over some bunkers from 35m to within 2ft was a highlight.

put in the $8 5w from an auction years ago. hit that off the 18th and it went gun barrel straight

outside of those 3 shots, the rest was just hacker central

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Stupid game.
1st round of club champs.

Only put my name down for today, yesterday. Wasn't going to bother as the game had deserted me.

Ended up with 8 pars. Don't think I've hit 8 pars in last 6 months.
84 overall...so 68 nett.

Awesome....let us know how you go at Sevenhill, definitely ask for a table in the cellar, doesn't cost any extra or anything.

Yeah Indii (Indian Restaurant) on main street is real real real good as well. Next door to is a little wine bar, its not my favourite but it compliments the dinner beautifully and is nice 'entree' to going to the Indian.

The local Clare Derby is the footy game this week, round 1, no netball last year but returning now I reckon the whole of Clare will be rocking this weekend with a great vibe. This should also go in the Restaurant review thread but anyhow

Popped into Sevenhill for lunch.
Not 100% sure what is happening on any of the days, so thought I would get in while there was an opening. Didn't want to be rushing around etc.
Got a spot in the cellar. Even for the non wine connoisseur the ambience down there is something else.

The food was on another level.
Even the garlic bread tasted good...
The Mrs went the chicken parmi and was salivating about it.
I went the barramundi which was in a red curry broth with noodles... bloody hell never had anything like it before and it was just magnificent.

We also shared a dessert and went the doughnut balls served with an icecream, kit kat crumble and a chocolate sauce... my word....

Also grabbed a bottle of Kilikanoon Prodigal granache as the Mrs did enjoy the granache from Seppeltsfield.

The service was also first class.

All up cost $127 with a couple of drinks.

*update on the Grenache - a tick under $40 and apparently is an absolute winner!

Re: AFL 2021

If Port take it to court, I wonder how much of the revenue from merch sales over the last 14 years they need to give up after breaching the contract they are arguing? It’s not going to court. Port are $10m in debt and are being propped up by the AFL. They aren’t going to instigate legal proceedings against the mob that are keeping them afloat. Don't burst the bubble

Re: Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Willunga

Nice and warm morning, but it was a tad windy out there.
greens are the quickest Ive seen them, but didnt play ridiculously quick like Thaxted have done.
the fairways were lightning quick out there also, the balls tended to just keep rolling along.

Overall the game was steady, the first real surprise I had was on the 12th - Par 3 - where I just nursed a little baby drawing 8i to a pin on the back right corner - majestic shot, until it cleared the green, didnt see it bounce so obviously straight into the dam
All day long the 8i was just super long, for what I normally hit it, that really threw me out.
Wasn't a bad day with the Driver behaved itself for the most part, the only time I stuffed it was on the 11th and tried to just half swing and guide the ball, and of course it started further right than expected and trickled into the water
had a few brazilians on the greens, they were looking good all the way....

finished with a 91, 2 lost balls and an unplayable.. ffs...

Re: Round 8

Didn't see the game but it's nice to see that De Goey kick a bag as there was alot said in the media this week about him, especially by the dickhead Mark McClure saying he's lazy and the Magpies should let him go. I hate the fact that that dinosaur is still given airtime on AFL360 to voice his opinions on the game.
Would like to read the Magpies and Roos posters views about De Goey's game tonight?
Was left one out on a bloke with little defensive skills for too long. I thought they should have put Mackay on him sooner.
As for McClure, I love most of his opinions. Speaks his mind & doesn’t worry about offending people. Adds colour to the bland, politically correct media. McClure is fine.
It's good to have someone able to speak their mind without any fear or favour

Sent from my SM-G781B using Tapatalk
I respect and like the fact that he speaks his mind but I feel some of the things he says is so unrealistic and too 'old school' which doesn't fit/work anymore and he doesn't have a feel for the way clubs and players work in this era. Like I said, IMO he's a dinosaur. You're entitled to that view.
I don't agree with everything he says, but he stands by it which is more than others in the media.

Re: North Melbourne

Nothing wrong with selling 'process' to fans.
I'm sure North fans understand where they are, and if they can see the game plan that Noble is trying to implement , what's the problem???
Surely by being transparent helps keep the fans on board. So long as the Board sticks with it.

Update on Sevenhill,
We mentioned it to the neighbours over a few drinks when we returned.
They knew a couple who were going to Clare and mentioned it based on our review.
Again it got good feedback. Mostly about how good the schnitty is.

Royal Willunga this morning.

Driver behaved itself for the most part today, that's always a pleasing sign.
Putting was a mixed bag as per normal.
Sunk a massive par putt on the 2nd, right to left up the hill. Just to make the early start worthwhile.
Few other holes the ball rolled over the edge which could have turned the day from reasonable to exceptional.
Ended up with 1 wipe, 6 pars and 32pts

WIllunga

weather felt warmer than the dark grey clouds were displaying. conditions were perfect. no breeze to speak of.

so today it was Par.

again i made some changes to the bag, for an interest. the baffler, i think i used 3 times and all 3 were just crap outcomes.
the Driver was fairly solid again.
added in an old 4 hybrid and that worked a treat for the most part. used it off the tee a few times and also used it to play some little runners from 100m in. bit of grandpa golf
91 off the stick and a -4.
driver, putter, baffler, hybrid, 7i, pw,56, gw was all that was in the bag. dont think i even used the 7 or the pw

Played an ambrose today. We were 3 over, definitely no cheating with our scores. Think we were the only ones over par. Had me 14 hcp, a 22, 24 and a bloke that hasn't even swung a club in 3 years. Weather was perfect.
Have a matchplay tomorrow morning against a 70 year old. Unsure of his hcp but it is in the A grade division so expect it to be a couple under mine. He plays old man golf, short and straight, I am the opposite. I dont expect much other than a few hours away from the wife and kids. Ambrose is good fun.
